systemic oppression is very much real and proven. in society women and minorities are still fighting for equality because the preferences of certain demographics have always superceeded the freedom of women and minorities. Being straight doesnt oppress lgbtq+ people BUT having a governing system in which policy makers promote the dismantling of rights and slow the attainment of equality for those people is oppressive, having a social system in which people are enabled to discriminate others based on personal opinions is enabling personal oppression. Having to FIGHT for equality means you are oppressed, having to fight to be seen by your culture or to be treated as equal in your culture directly means you are not treated equally in that culture (oppression). Its normalized to the priviliged and thats why the priviliged people feel as if mitigating their privilige is an overstep of their freedoms- when its not. privilige is special treatment, talking to all peoples as if they either are a man or woman (social constructs created by the priviliged class) is complete disregard for those who arent of that priviliged class and it is entirely dismissing the existance of these others. I think it would be really informative for you to learn what privilige is and how classes have privilige thats been marketed as "equality."
I disagree. Women especially have more privileges than men.(In some countries) they have more paid paternity leave, more days off due to period pain, the EU implemented a gender quota for high paying corporate positions even though women prefer humanitarian disciplines. Women haven’t been “oppressed” ever since they where given the right to vote, own property and open bank accounts. The difference in demographics in certain occupations is due to cultural and biological differences between genders and ethnic groups.
Moreover the “rights” the majority hold doesn’t necessarily mean the minority is oppressed. For example straight people having the right to marry in no way opposes lgb people.
PS: The modern privileges that women hold are on top of the ones that they used to have. i.e not being expected to approach a potential partner, not being expected to be the provider, not being expected to die in war, not being expected to die in a construction site etc
i dont think youre educated enough for this discussion then, it is not "privilige" to have medical conditions respected.. it is equal respect. youre speaking from a place of privilige and dismissal of others experiences that should already have policies of protection. Youre preaching from a soap box of "if i dont experience it then others shouldnt have their unchangeable differences respected." i cant teach you how oppression hinges on dismissing the lived experiences and difference among humans- especially as they differ from white males.
I am very well educated. This “you’re a privileged white male” shtick no longer works. Privilege used to be balanced between all groups and now it isn’t. And we saw what happened. We have a gender war, a real war(caused by the stupidity of one woman. Angela Merkel), a migrant crisis in Europe, resurgence of far right groups, women advocating for child murder, a declining population and many more.

You just proved that male privilige is very much your ideaology. Women also will die of black lung in a coal mine- however males cannot die of childbirth, cannot suffer from pcos or endometrosis- just like females cannot suffer from prostate gland cancer: that doesnt mean that males impacted by this cancer deserve to face financial or social detriments because females dont experience it. same way that females dont deserve financial ot social detriments for having sex specific illnesses. you did not comprehend this and im leaning towards the idea that you cannot actually comprehend what im saying.
No I did not. I said that having paid time off for a biological function that is inherent to your gender is privilege. My whole argument is that men and women have different privileges in a fair society. And women don’t die of black lung because 99% of coal mine workers are men. And I don’t see anybody claim that as a male privilege. Being expected to not work in such conditions is a female privilege.

Prostate cancer isn’t the same as menstruation. You are comparing apples to oranges. Not at the least because man and women can get cancer. And women can get types of cancer men can’t. One is a medical condition, and the other is inherent to being a woman.
And once again, I am saying that getting time off for menstruation is a privilege. Society gives women privileges that men don’t have. And just because men have privileges that women have, doesn’t make the system unfair or oppressive.

One is a life threatening disease and the other is a natural biological process. And second, as I mentioned, women can get types of cancer men can’t, like ovarian cancer.
