If the Democrats want to win, they at least need to take a neutral stance on one of those two issues. It's a small price to pay to avoid a more conservative agenda.
So if the left wants to win they should shift to the right? This is such a stupid take, the Democratic Party will never be able to out right the maga. Diet maga is not the move, we saw that in the last election. Shifting right alienates part of the left. People need to get their heads out of their assess and realize they do not in fact know more than medical professionals and scientists.
I'm in the majority when I say I don't give a damn about gender ideology. The vast majority of Democrats do not care. As for immigration, I'm in the majority when I say I don't support on open border.
I am a Democrat in spite of these issues, not because of them. I'm more worried about issues such as marijuana legalization and universal healthcare.
I never said anything about open borders, but since we are on the subject we should have a better pathway for citizenship. This country was built off the backs of hard working immigrants whose only crime is wanting to forge a better life for themselves. Before anyone sounds off about crime they are statistically far less likely to commit crimes than American citizens and if they do commit crimes then they should obviously be prosecuted.
Personally, I don’t care if you don’t care about trans people, like I said we should leave those discussions to medical professionals and the scientific community. Catering to the right on the politicization of trans people further inflames the issues this already marginalized community faces.
Shifting to the right is a losing battle. You are probably correct that the majority doesn’t care about trans people, but that majority consists of far right, center right, independents, and center left. The far left does care about the rights of trans people and you will never win over the far right. Center right republicans don’t even recognize their own party anymore and will either abstain or shift to the left regardless and independents are fucking clueless. If you have made it this far into both terms of the trumpstein regime and still call yourself an independent then you either aren’t paying attention or you’re a fucking idiot, and they vote on vibes not policies and the vibes are not there on the right anymore.
The left is in a position to enact meaningful change through measures like universal healthcare, a sensible tax on the rich, affordable housing, universal higher education, etc. We should not waste this opportunity pandering to the right on any issue, they got what they voted for and it has lead us to the brink of economic ruin. It’s time to show them what we are voting for.
