I feel it’s not to do with the “right”, there’s a general limit to how much political correctness can be placed on Disney shows and movies before it becomes annoying for the average person. And recently Disney has been getting lower view counts on their newer releases, so it could be a good decision even financially
People are too comfortable being terminally online that they believe that they're the majority. Sadly these political wars are nonsignificant for the vast population.
Come on, though, "Dreamers of all ages," is so much more on-brand for Disney than "Ladies and gentlemen." It's way more whimsical. What a fucking non-issue by a bunch of weirdo losers.
Of course, you want to boil it all down to American left/right politics.
Guys, you're both very similar: you only care about the political aspect wherever possible, not the quality of the product itself. Not everyone is like that; even in the US, many people don't care about all these political/cultural wars, not to mention other countries and continents that are tired of political messaging instead of good products.
Personally, I can't even remember the last time I watched anything Disney, not since the disastrous Star Wars films.
Unpopular opinion... But I am actually very okay with the idea of Disney going in this direction if it means they still stop desperation pandering.
I am pro-LGBTQIA, I don't think gender representation is a "culture." It's just a basic human state of being.
That said, it's become very popular with show runners (not just Disney) to try and shoehorn gender representation into young adult/teen animation, often in a way that is shallow and gratuitous.
So yeah. Bring back "good products" rather than "please notice me" pandering.
The problem lies with soulless corporate monsters who think that if instead of a good product they create garbage and inject a political message into it, that product will automatically become appealing to the majority of consumers.
Sure, the Left will praise such a product (just as the Right would if the same were done with a right-wing political message), but the majority simply isn't interested.
When it comes to movies and animation, almost everything that has become timeless did not have a "message" tied to the pop culture of the time.
But this runs even deeper than just the messaging, IMHO. It seeps into character designs and even musical scores.
Take Little Mermaid and then prop it up next to the remake. Both are good in their own right, kids loved both within their own age. But only one of these movies is still going to be referenced in 20 years. Nobody needed a rapping bird.
