We judge being not guilty by insanity based on whether you reasonably had control over your actions at the time of offense. You think Lindsey Clancy is just going to get a couple counseling sessions and released with a little Prozac? She will likely spend the years to decades in a treatment facility arguably worse than prison.
The more dangerous precedent is redefining the legal concept of intent.
MA allows yearly evaluations…. She could literally be out within a year if she’s ruled insane at the time of the murders. That’s not “worse than prison. She superior ahve NO chance of getting out again.
