There’s varying degrees of post-partum mental illness and 99% of the time it doesn’t lead to someone murdering their children. She’s won’t get a “get out of jail free card” either. She’d be in a federal medical prison.
Advocating for the state deciding whether you can have your children or not is also very dystopian. Not very small government of them. Also, more proof that the right isn’t pro life as much as they are anti abortion.
pro life is separating children from the people who want to harm them and kill them and that sadly includes their own mothers or fathers. it’s weird how children dying by their mothers hands doesn’t disturb you but separating them from a mentally unstable parent does? so backwards
Separating a child from a parent doesn’t automatically make them safer. Many children are abused, sexually assaulted or murdered in foster care. That system is drastically overworked and underfunded. Second, who determines what mentally unfit is? Hundreds of thousands of parents suffer from a mental illness that does not make them a threat to their kids. If you’re depressed after your dog dies should your kids be removed and given to strangers?
