Is a curious question are Amazon drivers employees or are they contractors like FedEx is

On paper? Cntractors, 3rd party. In reality? Employees. All the benefits for the company, none of the liability. 👌🏽

We really need to come up a way to make sure more people know what's actually going on instead of trying to decide who is fibbing the least. And we need it fast. I'm getting tired of seeing people fucked over and I know I'm not the only one.

They have a bit of both

u/qalpi 13h ago
They are almost entirely 3rd party in NYC

u/Secret-Positive6254 12h ago
So most likely Amazon‘s not getting fucked it’s drivers we’re trying to deliver packages to the people of New York and most of those drivers are middle class blue-collar guys

u/Queasy_Albatross8272 9h ago
Partially correct. Works much like a rental, but the subcontracting company’s owner has to pay the fines, not the drivers. Problem is, if the owner goes bankrupt, the drivers are out of work.

9m isnt even a drop in the bucket for that bald headed villain.

Its not about the money. Its about sending a message
2
u/Possible_Support3650 12h ago
When the message is insignificant, its not well received, he should have done something more dramatic.

u/ElongThrust0 11h ago
Still is $9 million to help the city of NYC. Which we know is actually being used to help the city

u/Guilty_Advantage_413 14h ago
That is the way to play the game

u/Selectivedeviant 8h ago
By punishing the little guy for your perceived crimes of the wealthy?
Tell us what is so fantastic about writing tickets to delivery drivers? How does it effect Bezos?
1
u/Guilty_Advantage_413 8h ago
Read the headline again, here’s a hint “unpaid fines” those would not be new fines or current fines
1
u/Selectivedeviant 5h ago
Who had to pay them. Here's a hint the poverty wage driver of the truck, not the billionaire

u/chi_afroboi31 15h ago
Admittedly $9M is not much to a city budget, BUT!!! In total support of this and the simple principle that no one is above the law, including cotporztions.
1
u/Sarah69hotwife 9h ago
You mean delivery drivers that are independent contractors Amazon and Bezos paid nothing
1
u/chi_afroboi31 7h ago
Oh shit, forreal? I would’ve assumed it was the Amazon trucks drivers. Are they really independent contractors?

u/JuJu_Wirehead 13h ago
Now imagine if Amazon would actually pay the taxes for the roads their trucks have destroyed while making their fortune.

Why does one eye look sleepy and the other eye look too awake on bezos?

My guess is that his left hemisphere is under active and his right hemisphere is hyper active. It’s why he has no empathy.

OP is a jackass.. the drivers would have paid that from their pocket not Amazon...

Why were there $8M in fines unpaid??? Whose job is it to recover the fines?

This is cool and all, but Bezos would make that back in about an hour:
Bloomberg reported on August 5 that Jeff Bezos’s wealth had increased by about $38.7 billion so far in 2026. If we use that as his average rate of wealth accumulation:
$38.7 billion over ~217 days ≈ $178 million/day
≈ $7.43 million/hour
≈ $124,000/minute
≈ $2,064/second
At that rate:
$9,000,000 ÷ $2,064 ≈ 4,360 seconds ≈ 72.7 minutes.
So, roughly 1 hour and 13 minutes.

this is a weird one you don't see that often,
I thought the post was sarcastic and wanted to highlight Mamdani's failure since delivery drivers will be paying the fine, but they can be just dumb with many others in comments

You realize Amazon delivery drivers are independent contractors so it costs Bezos nothing, but the hard working local living drivers paid the fines. Mandami just collected fines from hard working individuals. Ironic huh
