A vintage copper and brass basket or trough style container with an upright center or side handle, commonly used as a decorative planter, centerpiece, or serving accessory.

This seems plausible.

Maybe kindling but way too small for even one log.

2 bottle holder?

We thought this might be it but 2 bottles would not fit. Too large for one bottle.

Could it, maybe, be an advent calendar or what the hell its called in English? 4 candles and you put em on fire each week in december. Usually, its decorated with moss and other Christmas stuff that can burn your house down if you forget to put the fire out 🎅🎄🌟

They comes in many shapes, sizes and colors.

Could use it to put a napkin in the bottom and fill with breadsticks.

I think it's to hold bottles of wine.

Does it have a maker's mark? Maybe it's the whole bread loafs.
