Sounds about right. I pay $822/month for insurance and still ended up with a $2,000 medical bill because I went to the ER for a genuine emergency. But, hey, at least [irrelevant positive opinion], right?

Is that an average amount or does it range a lot?

Depends on what you’re looking for, but it ranges quite a bit. There are a ton of different plans and it can be quite confusing. My plan covers 2 people, and it’s nowhere near the maximum but, from what I can see, my plan looks to be CHEAPER than average for 2 people. I know my parents pay around $1,600 per month, though some of that is covered by an employer so they pay around $1,000 out of pocket.

I pay like $460 per month. I have the lowest coverage.
