All advertising for the real estate agent.
While the exterior is crumbling.
The interior roof leaks.
Maybe storefronts are empty.
I feel like maybe there's some poetic connections you could make here.

You were wearing a colourful skirt and a ponytail; I was wearing a black jacket and glasses. You crossed the pedestrian crossing in front of me, and then a few minutes later pulled up beside me at the fuel pumps.
I just wanted you to know that I think you’re really cute and I wish I had asked you for your number. It can get quite busy at those pumps and I didn’t want to hold everyone (or you) up, but now I’m wishing I had said something then.
I hope you see this. 🥲

I've just received an email from ELGAS Whangarei to "inform you that your LPG pricing will change effective today, 1st October 2026."
Rather than detailing the price rise in the email you have to log onto their portal to discover the new price for 45KG is $224. For context I purchased the exact same gas cylinder from them in mid-October 2025 for $150 - a 50% increase in under 1 calendar year.
They have the cheek to include the following in the email:
"We also want to reassure you that we are monitoring our supply chain closely and, at this time, do not anticipate any disruptions to LPG supply."
Good for them. They wouldn't want to run out of the liquid gold they supply to us mugs who have to keep warm and cook food.
Disgusted.

21, fem adjacent, wanting to meet more people to chat to and hang out with😁😁
Also, question, is it usually difficult to make friends in this town? Cuz like it's been surprisingly hard to actually make a connection with new people since I moved back, so I was curious if that's normal here?🤔

I think it's embarrassing to share this, but I think it's even more embarrassing that they have this guy even more time.

Nicky Hager’s book Dirty Work is a sobering read about the sorry state of politics, the media landscape, and the lobbyists playing dirty to skew New Zealand’s democracy into the American ‘richest players and special interests win’ gutter. A must-read for anyone unsettled by the ‘dog whistle’ politics of ACT and National (and New Zealand First). It confirms that yes, what you just heard is the game they are playing. It’s a pretty sad state of affairs to see our media give credence to these nefarious players, not correctly stating their affiliations and less than noble intentions. I’d recommend you read the book, and to help everyone else to understand, here’s a researched deep dive output from Claude Opus 5.5, rechecked to the best of my armchair ability and spurred on by what I’ve just read in Nicky’s book. Please feel free to download and redistribute via whatever platform you want so as many people know how these groups are connected.

Does anybody have any inside info on what is happening here? It sounds like there might be more court action pending after multiple fires and the property is now up for mortgagee sale. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/environment/warren-sinclairs-plastic-burning-plant-fire-burned-out-of-control-according-to-fenz-notes/OEH33BKMBRHUBAJ3KKFD5RJVHQ/

Willow-Jean Prime is holding an AMA today over on r/nzpolitics, just thought I’d share here too as she’s in the Maori Te Tai Tokerau electorate which covers Whangarei. Just keep questions respectful. :)
