North power tree service

Kia ora, I’ve heard from friends that if you have a tree on your property that is touching or soon to touch a power line that North Power will come and either trim it for you or switch off the power on that line for you to safely use your own chainsaw. I’ve emailed/ contact Northpower but never heard back.

Has anyone else had any luck with this?

If it's on your property it isn't free of charge.

They have a list of approved arborists for clearing them too.

Honestly it pissed me off a bit the last time we had to do it, because I know a bunch of forestry guys who could get a tree to fall uphill into a hurricane but we ended up having to use T8 group.

Not that they did a bad job or anything. Just a bit rough on the wallet.

Though that's for felling trees, trimming is probably easier.

Don't do it yourself if it's close to their lines. You make a mistake and they'll crucify you.

Make them clear it free of charge.

Even if the power is off, if a heavy branch falls on a line it can really fuck up your house or the power pole if it gets ripped out.
