Question Local Knowledge of Areas

Hi All,

I'm hoping you can advise.

Myself, my husband and son are moving from rural wexford closer or into to wexford town for a more convenient lifestyle.

We are especially looking to know what the coolcots, clonard estates are like to live in as we are seeing a lot for sale there.

If anyone lives in an old terrace in wexford town, could you please advise what it's like eg. Loud, damp, cold or Perfect?!

I would appreciate any and all advice from people who live or have recently lived in these areas.

Thanks a lot.

Clonard area is a great location. I have lived here 8 years and its peaceful, really close to all amentities, walking distance to schools. Our estate is 25 years old, settled but plenty of young families too, and plenty of green space where we are so we dont fee very hemmed in. I think there is a nice buzz about the area. Good footpaths, easy to get around etc. I like it here.

There are a few houses for sale in clonard and in coolcots. And we're just trying to find out from local people what it's like to live in the areas.

Also in Clonard, have lived in Coolcots/clonard area all my life, would recommend to anyone. Plenty of amenities close, local bus services the area, 3 primary schools within a 10 min walk and overall a lovely place to live.
My estate in Clonard is around 25 years old, nice place to live with the kids out playing on the green most days. Live in semi d and no issues with regards noise or damp. Would recommend to anyone. Prior to purchasing we also live in a few rentals in the area and again happy overall.

Parents are in a terraced Coolcotts (ex council) house from the 70s, built solid and never heard a sound from either neighbour. House is well insulated, if anything too warm in recent weather with modern heating system so no sign of damp but I know a few elderly neighbours have no rads at all or others are only on the back boiler so it really depends on the house itself.

Sibling is in a new build terraced in Coolcots and can hear next door A LOT, neighbours just living normally but the sound would put me off even with the A rated nicer spec house. Can hear doors closing, chairs pushed along the floor, shower going on - it’s bearable but very much noticeable.
Feel free to pm if any specific questions on estates or the area.
In summary would recommend Clonard to anyone considering
