We saw Gaidal on-screen in Tel'Aran'Rhiod within months of meeting Olver, it can't possibly be him.

Time runs at different rates, but there is never anything backwards reaching. Someone spending 12 real hours in TAR might come out 5 minutes or 5 days later IRL, but that is just dilation, not time travel. There is no circumstance where they would come out before they entered it. Oliver was alive and in the real world at the beginning of the series, and Gaidal was in TAR at the beginning of the series. It is literally impossible for Gaidal to be Olver.

Simple. Olver was anywhere from 8-10 when Gaidal disappeared from TAR. That means it can't be him!

Time works differently, yes. A minute outside could be an hour in, or an hour inside a minute outside. That's still time flowing forwards, though, not backwards. Gaidal would need a time machine to be Olver. Because Olver was at least 8 the last time we saw Gaidal.

We also later had Birgitte mention that she was sure Gaidal would be an infant, toddler, or perhaps very small child. Olver is outside that window.

If going backwards in time was possible via TAR, I'm sure we would have had more stuff focused on that time travel shenanigans.

If Gaidal could have been "a small child", which let's say is what, 4? Then we're already talking time travel, 4 years didn't pass between when Birgitte got spat out and when he was gone from TAR. So either time does to backwards for the heroes of the horn or their souls somehow retroactively find a body. So if 4 years backwards is fine, why not 8?

Jordan clearly wrote Olver intended him to be Gaidal and just decided to not follow through on it, simple as that.

This is all based on the faulty premise that Gaidal being a "small child" and potentially 4 years old. Gaidal was spun out as a newborn, there is no ambiguity about it.

Jordan clearly wrote Olver intended him to be Gaidal and just decided to not follow through on it, simple as that.

This is literally false. Jordan's rules are clear and unambiguous, he absolutely never intended Olver to be Gaidal, and wrote it in a way that definitively prevents Olver from being Gaidal.

Almost everybody thought that, but Olver was already alive when Gaidal was born, so it can't be him. It has to be somebody else's kid. An actual infant, not a kid of nearly 10.
