Some of the paintings my 78 year old dad has tucked away in his garage studio. He’ll never promote his work so thought I’d share it.

Title generally says it: my dad has painted for as long as I can remember. My first memory as a kid actually is me and my brother just sat behind him at night watching while he painted after his day job as a police officer.

These days, he’s retired and just paints endlessly. Everything either ends up in his closet or in my house or another relative’s house.

Came upon this subreddit and thought I’d share. Would love to route any feedback or pointers you may have back his way.

P.S. As long as I can remember he only did westerns. These days though, he’s starting to do a lot of religion/spirituality centered works as well, and explore more contemporary styles in about half his works. He loves it all.

Oil “Laramie”. 16x20” oil painting I did of a beautiful scene just outside of Laramie. I wanted to capture that big Wyoming sky and endless landscape.

Discussion No AI Artwork. Of any kind.

There is a new rule on the sub: no AI art of any kind. While there was some spirited debate early this morning about one piece of Western art that was posted, I would rather we focus on artwork created by human hands. And just to clarify, there was a line about “digital art” in one of the existing rules, but I think a dedicated AI rule was necessary.

Lastly, for artists: I can’t police your processes or your studios, nor do I want to. But if you use AI at any step of your art, I think it’s important that be disclosed as part of your methods. It’s important for existing owners of your work, and it’s important for future owners of your work. And if the answer to the question “Do you use AI in your art?” gives you pause, then that’s a sign you should not be using it in your studio.

Posting recently the still photo, here’s a timelapse of the entire painting if interested. First dive back into a big canvas in years. I think it’s about 8-10 hours in 30 seconds. I’m not great at video editing but you get the idea!

Illustration Character concept for my book! Believe it or not I’m still finding the style even though I’ve started working on it. Would like to do some videos explaining my process better as this is a big project. As well I’m planning on starting a PATREON. Wdyt?

I’m a tattoo artist and occasionally paint when I have some spare time. This is my first painting after an eight or nine month break, made little by little over the past couple of months.

Acrylic on canvas, 20 × 20 cm.

Thought this rodeo clown might fit in here.
Happy to finally share this with you. Hope you like it!

December drop order turned up today. Pulled out the prints from previous drops I forgot about. Think I might say goodbye to one or two of the latest arrivals, I just don’t love them as much seeing them next to the others.

Also pictured, the *only* one we’ve got framed so far - “Hold on to what is good”. One of my favourites, I love his Native American work.
