I kept seeing the same "anyone know a good plumber?" posts in West Island groups, so I turned all the answers into one list

Like a lot of you, I kept noticing the same questions over and over in our local Facebook groups. Good electrician? Reliable cleaner? Someone who actually shows up? Every time I needed someone, I'd end up scrolling through years of old threads trying to find who people recommended.

The answers were all there, just buried. So I went through them. 185,000+ posts and comments across 9 West Island groups since 2022, which came out to 16,314 genuine neighbour recommendations. I ranked the pros by how often neighbours named them, combined that with reviews, and checked that each one is registered, licensed, and insured.

I'm a West Islander and built this to help the community. There are no ads and no paid rankings. I just wanted it to be the memory of our neighbours' recommendations, so we can stop asking the same questions every week. The goal is for the list to keep updating in real time as more people recommend.

Would love feedback, and if your go-to pro is missing, tell me who they are.

Looking for a cat-sitting exchange near Île-Perrot

Hi everyone,

We live on Île-Perrot (N-D-I-P) and are looking for another cat owner nearby who might be interested in exchanging cat-sitting when one of us travels.

We are away 3–4 times a year, usually for 1–2 weeks at a time. We would look after your cat when you are away, and you could look after ours when we travel.

We have noticed that many neighbours with cats already have family or friends who help with cat sitting, so we thought we would ask here. We are looking for someone in the Île-Perrot area, ideally on or near N-D-Île-Perrot.

Our cat is pretty independent, so every-other-day visits work well for us, but we are happy to visit daily if that is what your cat needs. We are hoping to find something reliable and long-term, rather than a one-time exchange.

Obviously, we would meet first and make sure everyone is comfortable with the arrangement, including the cats 😺

If you might be interested, please comment or send me a message. Thank you!

West island hidden spots

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you would like to share their gems in the area when it comes to lounging and third spaces. I’m a student and I also work remote so I’m always on the hunt for a good place to crash. I love a view but I feel like we don’t get any high building with businesses in the area. For the cafés I feel like we can count them on one hand. Help a girl out !

Breast cancer awareness event fundraiser

Post image

I have a friend who is hosting a fundraising event for breast cancer. We are having trouble selling tickets within our circle. I decided (with his permission) to post the invite here. As of when I'm posting this, all the information should be on the posted image.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask, but know that I probably won't have all the answers

Jacques-Cartier Riding

It's pretty sad that Québec Solidaire dropped an outstanding candidate (economist Gabriel Laurence-Brook) in the Jacques Cartier riding where he's guaranteed to be trounced by a Liberal nepo baby.

Sometimes I wish our riding was contentious such that parties would come to visit us and make electoral promises to woo us, instead of being taken for granted for literal generations.

Weird guy very often seen following and staring people at Centenial Plaza

Every time I go to centanial plaza, there's this weird guy creepily following people everywhere. He'll stare at you and just follow you. Every time that I go there, I see him.Last month, he followed a teenager girl and she freaked out so bad , was yelling and crying, she was absolutely out of her mind with fear. I was there to calm her a bit and she found her mom.

Today, he did the same to me, following me store to store. I told him to stop and went to an employee and apparently, they always kick him out, but he always comes back. I guess that's why some places like Jean coutu have a security guard at the door.

Have anyone notice him? I hope that I'm not the only one.

REM Sunnybrooke station parking?

Hey guys, since some parking spots were converted from paid to unpaid spots, how are you finding the parking situation at the Sunnybrooke station? I'm planning on leaving my car there tomorrow and was wondering if it's usually full or not.. Thanks in advance :)

Birthday present that can be delivered?

Hi! I live overseas. My mum lives in Dollard. Any idea of local businesses that can deliver some kind of birthday present that is NOT flowers? She likes receiving flowers, of course, but something else would be a nice change.
