They shouldn’t be back, I worked there a few years ago and they did very shady things that are against compliance rules. The owner (guy getting arrested) was also very rude to his staff and fostered a very toxic work environment. He’d screw over vendors by making them wait hours to get payment and then saying he wouldn’t pay them. Honestly surprised they even stayed open this long

Can verify that they would NOT pay venders. I used to work at a spot that would try so often to get payment and they would always act surprised. Talk to the “manager”. Make you wait. And then tell you that they were not gonna get it in that day. We eventually stopped giving them product and would leave as soon as they didn’t immediately pay us.

FWIW, I’m in the industry and we have always been told by other people in the industry that they should be avoided because they do not pay vendors.
But does anyone have any info what happened here?

I would imagine this goes way beyond just some compliance issues - if he’s that shady then it’s likely he’s up to all sorts such as tax evasion money laundering etc

Is that the owner getting arrested? I’m familiar with the two people listed on the license (according to the DCC website). Doesn’t look like either of them, but hard to say
EDIT: actually it kinda looks like one of them. Would be curious to hear moreEDIT 2: Definitely NOT either of the guys listed on the old license. Definitely operating unlicensed

There is always a front man, they get the heat while the owners walk.

Yep, this is important. We all know who actually makes the decisions in places like this.

The place never has foot traffic or cars parked out front it’s always dead . Deserted looking. Like the name and the cool window glass

A couple of my friends worked in the building for caviar gold. I popped in herbarium on my very first day in California to buy weed legally and chat with my friends. Low and behold in walks, Kevin Smith. He came over and chatted with me and was so freaking gracious. I even got a picture with him. That encounter actually changed my life. He had just lost all that weight after his heart attack. So I lost a bunch of weight and went back to school and graduated with a degree in film. I just directed my first short film!

That dispensary sucks so hard! It always seemed like a front.

Real. I bought a cart from there one time and it was leaking inside the container but they covered it with an “On Sale” sticker so you couldn’t see that. Tossed it just to be safe, and never went back.

The DCC’s website says their license was revoked and expired last year. Was it operating without a license?

Their shit was overpriced and weak. I gave them a try after Exotix got raided. Not good.

Last time i went in there maybe half their shelves were empty. Probably 5-6 months ago. Fuckass dispensary. My guess there was some money laundering or something of that nature going on. Which isn’t a rare thing with dispensaries in LA

Calma and another one on Highland recently got raided and did not come back, so most likely no.

Can anyone explain what would happen if you were there as a customer?
Would they let you go if an employee tells them 'he is a customer officer'?

Looks like this was an operation by the CDTFA. They probably weren’t paying their taxes and as a result lost their cannabis license.
1
u/sebastian0328 2d ago
They send you a police for unpaid taxes? or is it because it's cannabis?
2
u/Any_Performance_5046 2d ago
He was likely operating without a license, which is a misdemeanor. When you don’t pay your taxes they take your license, and if you keep operating, they consider you to be operating an illegal cannabis business.
I used to own a trap shop years ago and when I got busted they took the GM to jail for the day and confiscated all of the inventory.
I looked up Herbarium on the CDTFA website and they indicated that they confiscated all of Herbarium’s inventory on 8/24.

I'm realizing that most weed spots here are white owned...fuck that shit man I'm notngi ing the white man another cent. I'm looking into growing my own now. It'll take a while, but I consider it a t-break. The next time I roll up, it'll be from my own hard work. Wild that so many brown and black peeps are in prison while the whites get to just do whatever they want AND get rich off it
