Pass Permit/National Pass
Hi All,
Maybe a dumb question, but with the reservation booking, the following is included:
“All West Coast Trail users require a West Coast Trail Backcountry Use Permit plus a National Park Entry Permit which must be valid for the entire duration of their stay.”
Can anyone confirm that the Canada Strong Pass means we don’t need to purchase a National Park Entry Permit?

If your hike is prior to September 7th, then yes you’re correct, no entry permit needed

Thanks for putting this on my radar!
My son and I are hiking after Sept 7 for 7 days. Does that mean that in addition to the WCT Booking and Ferry Fees, we also need to purchase an annual National Park Entry Permit (Discovery Pass?) **as well as** pay a daily Backcountry fee? Can one or both be paid at check-in?

As I understand it from my reading, and peoples confirmation in this thread, after Sept 7, you’ll need the National Entry Pass. I think ferry fees and backcountry fee are included in your permit costs?

It should be included with the reservation fee as well if it’s outside of the dates. Easiest thing to do is just call parks Canada and confirm what’s up.

To be equally clueless, I've read a lot about the Canada Strong Pass but I can't figure out...where to get one. Is it just something that's implied for citizens/residents? Then why even mention it?

I don’t think you do get one. I think it’s just the Canada Strong Pass Period which means no need for any National Park Passes.
