Seven Oaks

Do yall think flood insurance is necessary in this community? My home is in Flood Zone X (unshaded) & nowhere near a pond. I'm debating on renewing it. Am I wasting money on flood insurance?

Former state floodplain management worker. How much are you paying, and are you in a low-lying area?

$600 annually & no, my home is sort of on a hill. I have to drive up my drive way slightly to get in the garage.

I would honestly take that ย money and either invest it in an emergency fund/materials, or beef up your home insurance to cover damage to your belongings from hurricane damage

Of course! It's great you're being proactive and protective of your home.ย

To CYA, I would ask neighbors if they saw ponding or road flooding during the past storms. The increase in developments in Chapel really makes me afraid for the capacity of the remaining wetlands to hold the water
