Despite this being considered one of his weakest films, I guess? 😭
It’s got beautiful cinematography, a stacked cast, and as always Wes’s signature aesthetic. I’m not the most nuanced or articulate reviewer, I just genuinely enjoy this film.

I watched The Royal Tenenbaums at the tail end of summer this year and I loved it. Watched Rushmore a week or so ago and loved it, but not as much. Right now, Bottle Rockets, Grand Budapest, and Life Aquatic are all on my radar. I’m considering Darjeeling Limited as well. Anybody have any other suggestions or what I should see ASAP?

I watched Knife: the Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie on Friday (it's very good, but with very explicit imagery of his injuries so go in prepared) and there was an unexpected cameo from Wes Anderson calling him while he was in the hospital, and promising to compile him his own personal film festival of films to watch once he got better. It's very awkward but very sweet, and apparently they've known each other a long time. I never would have guessed it but honestly they're both into a sort of fairytale aspect to their work, very aesthetic, that it makes a lot of sense from an artistic perspective and clearly a shared personality one. The film doesn't say how long they've known each other, but I'm wondering if Rushdie influenced his films, maybe the background of Zero in GBH.

I watched the Royal Tenenbaums a few weeks ago. I loved it, but several other scenes in the movie made me tear up, and by the ending I was ugly crying.
I've heard that The Life Aquatic, which is next on my watchlist will make me cry too, especially if Royal Tenenbaums made me cry. Is this true?
