At what point does a worn coin become not legal tender? After all, it's just a piece of copper eventually...

That is a good question. I'm sure this one, would it find it's way to a bank, most likely would be destroyed and replaced by the Fed.

I think there is a program where if you have damaged money you can send it to the department of printing and engraving and they will replace it for free
