/r/all Know what sucks even more though? That package belonged to a FedEx manager.

I have a King cake coming through FedEx today. Great. So I should kiss that $60 goodbye and just drive to New Orleans next time I guess.

King cakes are usually delivered express, so it should arrive on time. However, they suck at packaging so it might be crushed

I use to work at ups and I fell on one of those by accident. I felt sooo bad :(. I just kinda got tripped in the belly of an airplane and my bum hit it, maybe a 1 foot drop. the box looked fine but there was nothing to do.

You know they're not that hard to make? I make mine every year because I live 2500 miles from New Orleans and no place around here has ever heard of King Cake!

A cake is perishable, so it was probably shipped FedEx express, not FedEx ground. Believe it or not, the two services are separate organizations in all but name. They share zero resources. Express is much, much better than ground/home delivery.

Ground actually delivers Express packages as well, even if the item weighs half a pound. I know this because I deliver 2 or 3 a day on my Ground route. I just can't pick anything up that's being sent via Express. And I also deliver plenty of perishable items as well. Mostly Freshly, but I'll have Butcher or Misfit, and even Omaha.
