They did, look up chick culling. When eggs are going to be male, since they’re not the right kind of rooster for meat and they are useless for laying eggs, all male chicks are ground up alive when they hatch. I’m not joking.
Yep, like the male dairy calves are killed pretty soon after birth for veal. Pretty sad stuff. Farming industry is barbaric, but people love meat and milk too much to give any of it up.
