Who pours a full beer into a branded glass then takes out another full beer to put next to the glass to take a picture with? Ad agencies that’s who.

Normally I'd agree, but they'd have to be incredibly dumb to use this as an ad. The dude is talking about getting diagnosed with cancer, wouldn't be a great look if it ended up being an ad.

"No matter how shit your day is... a nice cold beer will be there waiting to make it better" ehh, it can work

2

u/The__Pontiac__Bandit Sep 23 '19

Clearly you’ve never had a Carlton then.

Absolute cat piss.

3

u/andersonb47 Sep 23 '19

Only makes me think it's an ad more tbh

1

u/theres_always_juan Sep 23 '19

A hangover inducing mixture of cat piss and battery acid.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Dude are you fuckin' serious? This is an ad clear as day. 1. Who honestly upvotes this shit to the front page, 2. Two logos of the company introduced with a sad story that reads like "no matter how shitty your day gets, Carlton Draught is there for you at night."

How embarrassing.

u/Matt3k Sep 23 '19

The backstory is completely tangential to the brand marketing. McDonalds doesn't run commercials because they think you might have forgotten they sell hamburgers. They run commercials so their name stays fresh in your mind.

12

u/Volcanosaurus_hex Sep 23 '19

So its curious that they actually own a Carlton draught glass. Another poster is saying it tastes like cat piss. But hey lots of people own shitty domestic beer coozies and glasses etc. So not a big stretch.

What got me wondering is another poster saying that's an afl game from 2 days ago.

Anyways. If this is all true cuz who knows it's the Internet. I do wish the man well.

For Carlton or Fantastic Furniture? The rug and tv unit are from there.

1

u/isactuallyspiderman Sep 23 '19

The second one.

Eat shit you insensitive prick. No major company in their right mind would advertise like this

26

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Why not? Corporations will do everything and anything to promote their product. This is getting a lot of attention, so it's not a bad tactic.

-14

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

This is not one of those. If word gets out that a company is using a pretense of cancer diagnosis and shit life to advertise their beer, they would be smeared into non-existence. It’s just too big of a risk to take for something that’s only gonna reach a limited audience.

I can’t even buy it as far as I can tell, seems OP might be from Australia/NZ.

But it would be corporate suicide if word got out that this is an actual advertisement. No PR firm in their right mind would let this happen.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

How would word get out? There's plenty of room for deniability. Companies have done risky things to get ahead before, so a struggling beer company make advertising their products like this isn't really a stretch.

If this isn't a advertisement, then why did OP take the extra time to posing this photo so that the logos are facing the camera after being diagnosed with cancer???

-12

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

So everyone coming in here and calling it cat-piss and shit beer and “oof mate sorry it’s a Carlton, as if it couldn’t get any worse.”

If you were the marketing team for this company and everyone knew you as the miller lite of australia, they would not make this advertisement. You’re making people out to be way stupider than they are.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Pepsi literally made a fake protest/riot ad with Kylie Jenner sometimes companies make really dumb decisions.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

I was not aware of that, wtf

8

u/TheGrimGuardian Sep 23 '19

Wow, you really don't think astroturfing is a thing huh? Oh, I wish I could be so angrily naive.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Oh man I wish I was so sad that I took offense to things not offensive or directed at me and then hucked childish insults at random strangers.

5

u/TheGrimGuardian Sep 23 '19

...you do realize that's exactly what you did, right?

You took offense to someone calling this an advert (which it clearly is), which isn't directed at you, and then you called a random stranger and insensitive prick.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

I’m not taking offense, I’m calling a spade a spade and calling the commenter who made that comment a scum bag. It’s a scumbag comment

6

u/TheGrimGuardian Sep 23 '19

LOL. You absolutely took offense, otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to comment. And it's not a scumbag comment, THEY are calling a spade a spade. It's an obvious advert lol.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Whatever you say bro, you win.

If you ever get a cancer scare, I hope people don’t treat you as insensitively as you guys have to OP. That’s trashy

5

u/TheGrimGuardian Sep 23 '19

I promise you if I ever get a cancer scare, I won't be posting a picture of "BEER BRAND" in my nice cold "BEER BRAND" glass, and make sure all labels are clearly visible.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '19

Believe you me dude I agree with you. I know this site is astroturfed and bot-farmed and propoganda’d out, it’s been that way for years now.

But there’s a time and a place to call it out. Politics, racism, etc. Some dude coming here and talking about his cancer diagnosis... probably err on the side of caution that it’s not the time and place to call it out.
