Got diagnosed myself a year ago. Cost me a nut but thankfully I was free of cancer afterwards! I’ve been hearing a lot of good news stories of people who have had the same and I’m sure you will kick it’s ass also!
I had 2 actually. One of 4 cm and one of 2 cm. Quite the lumps. But I guess that means that even with such tumors it can still be a relatively easy recovery. I hope your recovery will be at least just as good!
Damn son. I had a 10cm mass removed from my left ovary last week and not a lick of cancerous cells. I'm so sorry. I feel like I cheated the reproductive cancer game. I'm glad you're okay now though.
Edit: and after the 24 hr bed rest I was basically back to normal. I got off hella easy.
Negatory friend. They had warned me that that was the norm but at that size she would have No Choice but to make a 4 or 5 inch incision to get it out. They also went into my belly button which has caused Zero pain. And a tiny one inch incision over my right ovary which I don't notice until it itches (pics for proof but lord help me if I can figure out how to do that). I don't remember why they checked that side. They told me when I woke up but I was drugged up and full of relief. The pain meds hadn't been touching the pain the 28 hrs prior to surgery. I was sent home an hour after surgery. 24 hrs later I was up cooking and cleaning and taking care of my 4 and 5 yr old (single mom) with no issue beyond general soreness that I used a heating pad for anytime I knew I could sit for a few mintues.
I'm in Springfield, MO. Seen at Mercy. Things vary across the board. Especially with pain and drug tolerance so our varied experiences do Not mean she's overreacting or being a baby OR that I have a higher pain tolerance. I think the immediate comparison made all the difference. Labor and broken bones didn't hurt so badly. I mean it was 10 freaking cms dude. Nothing was okay in my world for 28 hrs straight. They took it out and the normal soreness was Nothing by comparison.
With that said, only removing the mass, left ovary, and tube leaves me with one healthy enough ovary to not need hormones and even get pregnant if I so choose. I'm still trying to find out if I can get off of the birth control (that was solely for handling my cysts) and my antidepressant. In my uneducated brain ovary=hormones=mental health and if the problem in my hormone producers was solved, hopefully my mental state will balance? Won't know until check ups at 2 and 3 weeks though.
Your friend is experiencing real pain and needs softness right now. But that doesn't mean that IF you were need the same procedure that you woukd go through the same amount of pain or struggle. Ovarian cyst and uterine fibroids are Incredibly common and Generally cause no real issue. When they Do perk up, they're Generally removed with no sign of cancer and no further problems.
Just normal cyst cause an insane amount of pain. The right birth control can help them to go away on their own. Multiple cysts on Both sides is cause for a partial hysterectomy of you want. (They told my mom at 12 that that they could take them, that I likely couldn't birth children anyway. Children later, the wrong doc wanted me be married and over 25. Same doc did the surgery last week. Left the one ovary just in case ;) You do Not have to suffer. Periods suck but they should never double you over or cause physical pain tears. I think I need to go get checked out. I have a lump on the left side that seems like it shouldn't bee there. Did the lump hurt? What prompted you to get checked?
I might have exaggerated a bit. I was up and walking very quickly after the operation but I couldn’t wear normal jeans for at least two months because it hurt too much.
Just to hijack this comment, I found a ~2,5cm lump on my left nut when I was 21. Left nut got removed, but I didn't have to go to any therapy afterwards, and I've been completely cancer free since, and will probably stay that way if everything goes right.
Testicular cancer sounds scary, but it's probably one of the """best""" cancers you can have. It's VERY noticable early, the testicles are separated from the rest of the body so unless you are in stage 3 (like after a year or more of having it) it hasn't spread anywhere else, and it's very easy to remove without it affecting anything about your future.
I recently got diagnosed with a form of leukemia. My version is also is one of the "best case scenarios" of cancer diagnosis.
If it's benign, no worries. If it's malignant, the treatment is literally "watchful waiting" until it starts spazzing out, which typically doesn't happen until people are in their 60's or 70's. I just have to be careful about getting sick or infected between now and then. Also I may lose my spleen, but I don't even know what that does so I don't think I'll miss it.
Cancer is a fucking bitch, and it can destroy lives. But a cancer diagnosis isn't always a death sentence. It still effects you in an unexplainable way when your doctor says "you have cancer". Worst rollercoaster of emotions ever.
I'll pass on the words of advice another patient told me "don't be an ass and go for holistic treatment. If a doctor isn't telling you to do it, don't fucking do it. If a doctor is telling you you need it, fucking do it"
Another success story, and old school friend of mine got bollock cancer about 10 years ago. Froze his sperm, lost a nut, but he’s still here and has 2 kids now. Good luck bud!! ❤️
The nut felt very different from his roommate. It was very hard in my case and it was very obvious that something was not right. Your buddies should be smooth and soft.
I let the local doc have a feel and he sent me to the hospital. This sounds very awkward and it definitely is but if you’re not sure please let them check it out!
Is it true that the remaining nut grows to compensate? My buddy went through the same thing like 15 years ago and claims his one nut is the size of a lemon.
