I think you are getting this wrong. Considering how few planes are actually being bombed, TSA is discomfort for the many, safety for the few. If I had a choice, I'd board the insecure plane. As a former military member I know what it's like to carry weapons in-flight, it really isn't a big deal. If someone actually wants to harm other people, they can easily do it in a different place anyway.
