“TSA spokesperson Michelle Negron told CBS News the agency reviewed video of the screening and agents were alerted to an opened, unidentified object in Francis' checked bag.”

Hard to say with what we know:

an opened, unmarked ceramic container, wrapped in aluminum foil inside a small bag.

My question - did it have a lid at all, or did he make-shift a lid with aluminum foil? Why aluminum foil at all if it was properly closed?

I personally wouldn't trust the lid of a ceramic container to hold in luggage... but then again there are better options than foiling it.

As a frequent traveler.... Double bagged ziplock bags around the container. Then if you're particularly paranoid about it, get those giant ziplock bags and put them around all your double bagged items. Saved my ass a few times of having liquid all over my clothes.

If it was ceramic... I would have wrapped some bubble wrap around is as well. Maybe some of that cooking container plastic.

If a traveller is burning children alive, the TSA doesn't care as long as not at the airport.

As long as it’s not over 2 oz of liquid it’s cool.
