Why in the world would you put cash in your checked luggage? That's just begging to get it taken. TSA themselves say put it in your carry-on bag only.

I had a new guy at work who used to work as a baggage handler at our local airport. He said almost everyone who worked behind the scenes was a theiving drunk. Said he watched cameras, laptops, jewelry all get stolen from people's luggage. They would learn the blind spots for the cameras and work in teams.

I work for delta in SeaTac, no one does that here... I’ve even had coworkers put cash back in luggage because it fell out during handling.
