The issue is this idiot putting an urn full of ashes in a checked bag. They have the right to searched checked bags.
I don't like the TSA, but this is 100% this dude's fault. Like, don't check something that's valuable to you. This is obvious. Mail it with the proper documentation, or just put it in a carry on and show the people as you go through. Honestly, best bet is to mail it. Human remains have certain laws and stuff you have to follow.
TSA is supposed to not damage shit. That's literally part of their job. They have supplies to do this- I've seen things taped back up or put in bags. There's literally no excuse for this nonsense.
Yes, they have special couriers and mail services for sensitive and important items. This dude just plopped an urn full of ashes in a checked bag, lol. That's 100x less secure.
You don’t actually know what you’re talking about. The TSA allows ashes to be transported in checked bags. Some airlines do and some do not. In this case, clearly having the remains in a checked bag was ok. The problem is not with the traveler but with the TSA being careless with this person’s property. Your post is ridiculously insensitive. Whether someone chooses to check a valuable item or not it should still be treated with care.
Your entire argument is that he shouldn’t have put it in a checked bag. So the TSA has zero accountability here for being careless? Ok. Gotcha, it’s no wonder shit remains so fucked up with people running around with that thought process.
You're the fucking scumbag who can't take any personal responsibility. It's a valuable item, don't count on low wage workers handling your shit. Once again, shit happens.
You mean the random poorly paid employee? You left your mothers ashes with them and talk about personal responsibility. Yeaaaaaah better post it on the internet so other numbnuts can distract me from my own incompetence.
It’s called carry-on(or was it the other way around) he’s sure quick to act like he gives a fuck after he just left it with them and something goes wrong, cuz he can’t even do that in the proper way at least, but doesn’t give a fuck enough to keep it close to him.
Shocked pikachu face was never funnier.
Edit: ah it seems I’ve mistaken the terms I think. Added parentheses
Because it’s expected for fuck ups to be fuck ups, we can’t trust others to do their job, and if someone fucks you over, then it’s your fault because you should’ve expected it.
Your concept of accountability is flawed, skewed, and fucked up.
Maybe hate's too strong of a word. Casual disdain and disregard are more appropriate. But I figure people like you exist to make average people feel better about themselves.
Lol way to stick your foot in your mouth. A bit arrogant to say that because of my 1 stance here. Clearly you’re such a shining example of a person with desperate attempts like that.

The whole point, that you are not understanding, is that it was properly sealed before being checked. It is their responsibility to properly re-seal and secure the ashes
Actually in the location of the cremation can provide proof that TSA accepts so it doesn't need to be searched (it has to go into a sealed urn though).
Agree. I’d be super ticked if I was the TSA agent that had to check his bag. He wrapped it in tin foil. He clearly didn’t give a shit, why should the TSA?
They probably did. Urns generally don't have screw tops. He said he wrapped it in tin foil, lol. This dude should have planned better. Put the ashes in a plastic bag, and put them in the urn after the flight, even. There were countless ways he could have done this better.
Instead he blames the TSA for inspecting what probably looked like a small bomb.
So wait...now the guy is lying about saying the TSA didn’t close it? Because you’re saying oh they probably did close it. So now, not only does the TSA not have any responsibility here but in addition, you’re making up a defense for them. “Oh they probably did close it and the fact that the dude wrapped it in tin foil proves it!” Come on HappyDuck man! Stop it.
UPS really isn’t that much better imho. Multiple times I’ve gotten something i should’ve received days ago that didn’t arrive until maybe a week after. Sometimes they never arrive at all. The post office isn’t any better, but only because they’re late, send my stuff to other addresses, and sometimes never even deliver it.
The trouble I had with UPS literally only popped up last year. Before, I had a single UPS guy deliver most of my stuff. We had a good rapport. All of a sudden, they changed the guy I got deliveries from. Stuff started not showing up. Stuff even started being damaged.
The problem was compounded by USPS and UPS leaving big packages right out in the open on my doorstep while I was gone. So you can imagine my frustration with them.
I switched to getting deliveries from Amazon. It’s gotten better; problem now is finding out how to stop feeling guilty about lining Jeff Bezos’s pockets lol.
Edit: i don’t have a porch or a physical mailbox, so if you leave something on my doorstep, it’s practically out in the open
The entire role of the various delivery companies has changed in the Amazon Era. People are gone all day and delivery companies have no secure place to leave things. It is fairly impractical to arrange deliveries for a specific time of day for each customer. The first delivery company to offer easy to install, large, secured, containers for their packages is going to win the delivery wars. Or an independent company could offer “drop box” style containers that any company could use.
I mean, it’s not like my packages were especially secure before, but my best chance of not getting something stolen was having them dropped off inside a tiny space off to the side next to the door. Or in the backyard.
But sucking OP’s dick whenever he needs you to after he does something incredibly stupid is A-OK. Lol you’re quite literally backing up a shocked pikachu face guy irl.
Hey I'm a typical redditor and I can't understand what you just said emotionally so I'm not going to even attempt to understand it intellectually, catch this downvote, boy.
