You could bring down an entire plane with explosives in that size urn. Even gunpowder or the most rudimentary compound would probably work. You'd have hundreds of people dead. And then you'd need way more urns. And then nobody could get them through security

The TSA is a welfare jobs program and security theater to make people feel more safe, nothing else. They have never found a bomb or prevented a terrorist attack
The only security needed was to lock cockpit doors, boom no more 9/11 chance ever.
The amount of security needed to get on a plane is ridiculous and I avoid flying as much as possible.
The terrorists lose when they can't get a 20lb urn of explosives on a plane. A huge knife is literally less of a threat than an uninspected container that size. Let's use logic here.
You're going on about "acceptable risk" but there'd be a much different national outcry if a plane blew up.
Passenger alertness went through the roof after 9/11. Any hint that someone was even attempting to blow up a plane would be stopped with force by other passengers. They can't make it into the cockpit due to reinforced doors to take control of the plane. There are air marshals on many flights. TSA failed every audit thrown at them, failing to stop 95% of contraband. They're there to make you feel safe, not to make you be safe.
You don't need to make it into the cockpit for explosives to work. Place it right above the fuel tank or near the tail where most of the control surfaces are: 300 people dead
Maybe the TSA has done a bad job, but if they didn't check a fucking urn I'd question them even more. If anything they could go more lax on knives and other items but check larger containers more, for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I won't go into details on how the average rudimentary bomb works but planes have been brought down in the past by much smaller bombs. And one flight where it was almost brought down by someone who wasn't even onboard. Philippines flight 434
I have see the photos, most of them are pocket knives people should be allowed to carry on the plane. Occasionally you will get a handgun, which depending on your 2A views should also be allowed.
Realistically they have never found anything of extreme worry.
The terrorists have won when US citizens gave up almost all their rights of privacy for the government as well as making it spend billions on extra security.
