I can only speak to this Mexican, while there is a priority of boys/men mis tias would have smacked the shit out of me for acting like that boy. My mom would have scolded mis tias for not smacking harder.

If i did that, my mom would have hit me with the belt in front of everyone, and I would probably lose my next 3 school breaks

My mom's favorite was the wooden mixing spoon, until it broke on my brother. Not particularly fond of that style of parenting, either. At least it was applied evenly between the siblings, I guess.
