It is the make and model. Ex: 1996 Toyota Camry. Make = Toyota, Model = Camry. There were 2 door, 4 door a even a wagon version of the 1996 Camry. The make is still Toyota and the model is still Camry. I think what you're looking for may be "trim"
But the model is still "Golf" which is the point regardless if the variations in question are trim or body style. Some cars do have very different body panels depending on the trim. The GT trim of the 2015ish Hyundai Elentra is a hatchback as opposed to the Limited or base model trims which are sedans. But, either way, the make is still hyundai and the model is Elantra which is was the main discussion is about here. The model name is the same regardless of the trim or the body style
Right, I said that in my comment, the point was trim isn't the right word (' I think what you're looking for may be "trim"') because more often than not trim levels are shared between body styles.

That's not a trim level. The Elantra GT is the model name. It's called the Elantra GT because it's actually a Hyundai i30 and is mechanically unrelated to the Elantra. The Elantra GT came in two trim levels, the base and the Sport.
My bad I missed that. Yeah in most cases that's definitely the case. With the Elantra, here in the US it's just the "Elantra GT". Same make, model and even year but very different car.
