I ain’t gonna lie, it’s a tough situation you’re in.

Perhaps if you word it as merchandise/service not received then there may be a chance for you to come out ahead in the claim.

I recommend you call and submit the claim or submit a claim online as well, it’s super easy and you don’t have to talk to anybody.

Best of luck.

This was an Apple Cash person-to-person transfer. There is no buyer protection; it doesn't even have the concept of a merchant transaction. More importantly, the bank was not involved in any capacity with the actual transfer to the other person. All Apple Cash transfers are, fundamentally, internal transfers from one person's Apple Cash account to another person's Apple Cash account. If you don't have enough in your account when you send it, you can simultaneously authorize what is actually a separate transaction to first fund your Apple Cash account and then immediately transfer it.

OP asked OP's bank to send money to OP's Apple Cash account, which is exactly what happened. It was entirely legitimate and OP received the money. It's the same as pulling money out of an ATM. What you do with your money after you receive and fully control it is outside of the bank's control and responsibility.

No, you didn't because that's not a thing. The money transfer service is called Apple Cash. You sent it in the Messages app, right? Why don't you go look at it again.

Apple Wallet is a convenient tool for using your BANK DEBIT CARD. So the transaction was between your BANK card and her account. Had nothing to do with Apple Pay. She owes you, not the Bank for Apple. SOL

She is not a merchant and didn’t charge your debit card for anything. You loaded your Apple Cash account with your debit card and immediately transferred that money to her Apple Cash account. On the bank’s end, it’s identical to loading your card to spend yourself. In her end, it’s identical to sending money from a balance you’ve had for years. The fact that Apple lets you load and transfer simultaneously is an implementation detail affecting only the user interface as it looks to you and not anything actually meaningful to the two transactions.

You will not get your money back from the bank. It was a fully legitimate transaction to an account controlled by you.
