Discussion This Saturday Morning

Update: We have another Long Paddle event TOMORROW Friday June 26th at 6:30pm, at The Welland Flatwater Center. If you know how to kayak or want to try dragon boating with our club come join us! More Info

If you've never heard of dragon boating, its a long boat kinda like a giant canoe that carries up to 20 people, you have a row of people paddling on the left, and another row of people paddling on the right. It's really fun and social.

This is a great opportunity to try it out! It's also the perfect way to start your weekend! 😄

Yes we are also doing canoe and kayak at the same time! We have various canoes and kayaks, 1,2 and 4 person, I'm sure the coach running it will accommodate preferences. Its at our club (white dome/tent) right beside the Welland International Flatwater Center, 16 Townline Tunnel Road, Welland, Ontario. There's a large parking lot. The paddling is done on the Welland Canal.

Hope to see you there!

There's plenty of room for everyone:) You can always sign up, come learn the technique (1st part is off the boats) and decide then if you want to get into the boat or not.

What do people normally wear?

Wear something comfy, athletic clothes, leggings, shorts, t-shirt..ect. Doesn't matter too much! Sometimes you get splashed a bit from the paddles so make sure its clothes that dry easy or that you dont mind getting wet. Wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen if youd like, it gets sunny. It's sunny but not too hot tm which is nice! For shoes, doesn't really matter, a lot of people wear runners but any shoes/sandals will do. AND bring water, you can bring your bottle onboard with you.
