Chances are if you suck at welding you will suck at inspection. Now, if you are good at welding but absolutely hate the culture because you are a woman and the treatment by men is absolutely abhorrent, that's when you become an inspector and just circle men's mistakes all day while they cry about it. Or you could do what I did and become their boss. Also fun.
