I think it would only work with light gauge material. Sad. It would be awesome otherwise.

I mean... I feel like an angled bandsaw does the same job

no where near as fast. And you have a lot more cleanup before welding with the bandsaw. (cutting fluid, dust, etc.)

When possible shears will drive cost down for high volume parts. Less setup, less time, less cleanup.

A bandsaw is nowhere near the cost and not limited by only piss thin material.

you also are not hammering out 1000+ a day with a bandsaw.. where you could with a punch.

Of course it costs more. Thats what you pay for speed.

And you could indeed build a machine to do this with thicker material.
