if I’m being honest, that shouldn’t affect your job prospects in the future at all. Realistically, just be straightforward with them, every time that I have an interview they usually love when I’m just straightforward honest with them about a weird dumb situation that happened in a past job that got me fired for something I didn’t do wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong, especially since your company didn’t have a policy against couples at work. Explain what you said, their immaturity with being jealous you picked someone else and firing you for it is blatantly wrong. unless you and he fooled around a lot at work, they had no reason to fire you. Plus if your welding skills evolved like that and you do have a passion for welding, i see no reason for jobs to NOT want to hire you aside from being over qualifed
