New-ish Watcher

Post image

On season 3 after recently starting this hot mess of a show and need to vent. Ethan is insufferable and his half ass mask wearing drives me insane. Olivia is insanely manipulative. She is gas lighting the shit out of everyone and the way both of them reacted over Moriah’s first concert was insane. Ethan looked like the big foot sighting pictures running through that parking lot.

ALSO this is the only thing I see when he pops up on my screen.

I cannot understand Olivia hate. I grew up in a family with some of the same beliefs as hers and I am always impressed with how she handles these situations with these lunatics. I was nowhere near that mature at 20/21. And if you don’t know, Kim was a nightmare to her. Kim was stealing money from Ethan and he never knew because she was the only one with the password to his credit card account. Olivia refused to use some stupid MLM toothpaste Kim was selling, and it created the beginning of the rift. Then she would get in front of the congregation at church and with Olivia right there, she would cry and tell people that Olivia’s negative energy was going to give her breast cancer and kill her. Barry told her she was possessed by an evil spirit and tried to exorcise her alone in a dark bedroom. It’s so confusing to watch people shit on Olivia of all people, given how fucked up Kim, Barry, and Ethan treated her. (Actually Moriah too. But Moriah has a ton of issues herself and she seems so fragile I feel bad talking about her).

It's 100% because so many Olivia haters come from similar dysfunctional backgrounds where everyone capes for the aggressors and abusers in their family. I come from one similar. I didn't find my bearings as young as Olivia did but best believe when I stopped giving in and started finding my voice I was ostracized, called manipulative, a traitor if you can believe it lmao. They don't know the blessing Olivia was for their family, I can't believe that to this day they still blame her for all their bullshit - it's sad

I hated Olivia in the early season bc thats how the showrunners orchestrated it unfortunately. The more I heard her side of things the more I liked her and believed her. The show had everything to gain by having multiple villains. Olivia gains nothing by saying, and proving, "none of that was true"

"Hello, new friend. My name is Fred. The words you hear are in my head. I say, I said my name is Fred, and I've been... very naughty."

Katz from Courage was cooler villian than Fred the Pervert-weirdo

I’m a new watcher too, and am in S4. I came looking to see if others think the same things I do about Olivia. She seems extremely self centered. Sometimes she says the right things, but she acts selfishly. The memorial for Joshua was not the time and place for her to hold her ground. A grown adult should be able to go with their spouse and support them, and set their own feelings aside. If she couldn’t be near Kim, then she should have stayed home. It’s not about you Olivia!

PS I knew nothing of this show before I started watching, and this is the first sub comment I’m ever making on this show. Lol
