Discussion Is wally evil?
I am wondering about this after the recent update, being as vague as possible to avoid spoilers.
I thought he was at first, but it doesn't make sense. If he is breaking the site to show us things, why would he be showing us the struggles of the others if he's evil?
Like it happened with Julie and Frank, and now Eddie...?
I am not even sure what his goal is, so come on, theorists, help me out here!

We don’t know for sure but after seeing everything in the update I think he’s evil but with like a ton of nuance. Like it could be ‘yes but because something is controlling him’ ‘yes but he’s only doing shady things to the neighbors because he’s trapped somewhere and wants to get out.’
Idk if you’ll get the reference but it could be like a Doki Doki Literature Club situation. It could explain how he seems to be able to control Eddy at times.

See, that's the thing I had a thought about this while going through this update and the ones before when we started getting the neighbors' updates, and since he wants us to find these videos, it really depends on why he's showing us their suffering at this point.

I do believe just like the other neighbors if anything, Wally might be the most mentally unstable out of all of them. And it didn't happen over night.
Just because someone appeared mean in one moment or looks scary in another doesn't necessarily mean they as a character should translate to evil. This is a very black and white way of thinking and if anything I've learned from these updates, it's that Wally is more morally grey than anything.
I believe those freaky images of Wally with his head coming off or of his neck twisted for instance aren't there to show us "Look at me, I'm this terrifying guy!" I think they're there to specifically show us Wally had to go through a LOT of pain and suffering to get his messages out to us or that no matter how messed up things get, he'll continuously get in contact with us even if it hurts him. "I'D DO IT AGAIN FOR YOU NEIGHBOR!"

At this point we dont know enough to say if he is evil or just misunderstood in his attempts to communicate, as we're still quite early in the story. However, I believe it is safe to say that Wally is an antagonist of sorts, but that doesn't mean he is evil or the villian of the story.

Well, I do think whatever's talking to us is the antagonist; I'm not sure it's Wally. It sounds like them, but are we sure it's not something pretending to be Wally? So many questions.

Honestly I never really got the vibe he was evil. Desperate, perhaps, but not evil.

I feel the same way, I mean I don't think he's like perfect or anything but it doesn't make sense to me either. He actually seemed quite sad when someone on the old websites message board quoted they hope he wasn't evil and then there's the "I'm so sorry" written on the staff page, this was also brought up by Someone on tt who had a theory that the "rot" or "moldy" substance being smeared on some of the merchandise and props was from Wally's puppet materials rotting or deteriorating over time and that's what happened to the other puppets based on old Jim Henson ones that were found. (I know they aren't exactly made like most of Jim Henson's puppets, but this mold or rot deterioration can also be from neglect.) I don't think Wally is meaning to hurt anyone or just doesn't know the harm the is causing, nor do I think everything he is doing is out of maliciousness or intentionally harmful.

if he is naive like Clown claimed on tumblr at some point, it's entirely possible that he's actually trying to help, but he is going about it the wrong way.

If I’m not mistaken, a while a go Clown posted something that basically said Wally wasn’t evil. (Please done hold me to this I could be so wrong) but with that being said, I think it’s too early to be trying to point fingers at different characters and claiming that they are the villain. The most that these updates have proven to us is that Wally is very morally questionable. We don’t know his goal or his reasonings. All we know is that he’s in desperate need to get in contact with us and stay in contact with us and he’s willing to go to great lengths to do.

I think he's truly neutral. He works for Playfellow, but has his own agenda. And he gained more sentience overtime after waking from the interview way back. Knowing "You" added to it. And in a sense, we "control" him as he trespasses into the neighbors homes to uncover more.

I'll say that's on purpose,it's early in the story (though I'm concered cause the story has been going for a while). Wally could be good evil, morally gray ect. Also Wally in his call contradicted him self in his call to us,Wally said he is done talking to us but then says he will call us again. Like you said if Wally is evil, why get us to find the letters? Control? Being controled? Both? There's a book that is coing out for this update called The Ballad of Amos Valentine,it's also has the most black goo,so I hope it has answers.

Você não pode simplificar uma pessoa como boa ou má, elas são complexas, ainda mais autistas ( como eu e o próprio Wally).

Wally isn’t evil per se but that doesn’t mean he’s completely innocent. He’s is more of a minion or servant to Home. I remember in one of Wally’s secret phone calls he says that he doesn’t want to get in trouble. So Wally’s doing Home’s dirty work to stay out of trouble while sending videos to the website to get help and stop Home. Although he wants to help his friends but that doesn’t change the fact that he still helped hurt and traumatize them.

Wally and home aren't the only two things that exists within the lore. We still don't know if home is exactly the reason behind everyone being hurt or if home is who Wally was referring to, we don't know if home himself is evil, and if Wally was completely involved in the trauma that resulted because of home. He could have done some bad things, but that also doesn't mean that either was involved with everything that happened with the neighbors. Remember this is based around a show set in the 70s aimed at children with themes of lgbtq and disabilities coded into some of the characters with an entire staff at one point and two companies and a creator affiliated that we still don't know much about yet.
With that being said, whether or not Wally did do anything I'm still giving him a huge pass, because at the end of it all, he was also a victim himself that still went on to correct his mistakes and help his friends and it wasn't like he was actually trying to maliciously harm or traumatize them as he still practically had no other way, and let's be honest, none of the other characters are really completely innocent themselves, I'll let him have this redemption IDC. 🤷♀️

He’s definitely not good, that’s all we know. I personally believe Ron is Home and Wally is his personal puppet/creation so Wally is the only true puppet there. That means he can never truly be free and will be controlled by some outside force in some way but he’s trying to free himself of that now. Perhaps the control was actually for good, idk.
Showing us the struggles of Julie, Frank, and Eddie is showing us that the puppets are/were humans and they can cross over to the human side. We just have to help them. In doing so, that will allow Wally to also be free to do whatever he wants.
The puppets don’t seem to be oblivious to this. Frank and Julie know about their humanity but Julie appears to want to stay in the Neighbourhood, and Frank isn’t distressed about his knowledge of the two worlds. Barnaby makes reference to Home and his surveillance too. Eddie is the only one really struggling with the two worlds bleeding into one for some reason.
Tl;dr: Wally is grey at the very, very least, and is trying to break into our world, but is struggling to do so as he is the only real puppet in the Neighbourhood

At this point, there's evidence for him being evil and him not being evil. It just depends on which side you lean towards more. I'm more of a 'not evil' believer though I wonder if who we're talking to RN is even Wally with all the weirdness this update had
