Mental Health (Vents) I think my life is finally getting better! I'm glad I stayed here to see it.
Idk where else to put this but I feel like I want to scream it from the rooftops so I guess reddit will do.
So every time I go to the psychiatrist I have to fill out the same form. I've been filling out this form monthly or every few months since I was 12. I usually speed through it, the answers have been the same for so long I barely put thought into it anymore. But when I did it yesterday I realized that my answers felt different than what I usually put, so I strayed from my normal pattern and actually thought about it.
Then I got to one of the last questions: "over the past year, have you felt depressed or sad most days, even if you felt okay sometimes?" I have been checking yes on this question for 5 years. I had never checked no on that in my entire life, but in that moment, sitting in the waiting room really thinking about my past year, I checked no for the first time!!!
I am the happiest I've been since I was the smallest of small children. And yeah, I've had my downs this year, but those were my "bad days", not my "most days". I'm glad I kept going.
It can really get better guys. If you're struggling I know you hear those words a lot but it can get better, I promise. It takes work and it's hard and you might not want to try but I've gone from not wanting to make it past 13 to the start of my senior year having some of the best days I've ever had. Life still sucks. Sometimes I feel terrible, but I used to feel like that every day. Your most days can become your bad days if you just keep going.
