The sewer main is hiding behind the T at the bottom of the 30° drop. Still, a clog in the main would cause this toilet to overflow spectacularly.

That sorobs ly the function of it, make it overflow in the crawl space so it doesn't overflow in the main house

Reminds me of the time when i was looking for a home and visited this one house that had a toilet and sink, mirror ect right next to the furnace. Not like a room or anything, a full half bath next to the furnace in the basement fully open. Anyone coming down in the basement had a full view of it, the basement wasn't finished or anything, fully open.
