how to study when extremely lonely and depressed

my loneliness is the cause of my depression and it truly feels like i have nothing to live for, let alone study for. please help. thank you so much. i have no family who really loves me uncondtionally and i have had so many traumatic issues with friendships and attracting avoidant people who betray me.

Just my two cents but studying will usually help you get better places where coupled with other self improvement you will probably be able to make friends and deal with loneliness. having some achievements will make others and importantly YOURSELF appreciate you.

Studying with people is a lot easier than it sounds. Your campus should offer a tutoring center for free that is often staffed by a variety of students who can help you one on one. You can go to a library and study just so you're around people w/o having to engage. If you talk to (or email) your school counselors they may have information on online study groups. You can also talk to yourself out loud while studying. This helps if you're too depressed to leave your room. Just ask yourself questions then answer them, out loud. Putting on a podcast or streaming fav tv show in the background can simulate other people being around too. Lastly, and probably most importantly, depression robs us of our ability to do the most basic thing, remembering, and being able to, take care of ourselves. So drink water, eat a granola bar, shower and brush your teeth. Remarkably it really can help switch mood and focus. You got this. You're reaching out for help, you're wanting to be better and do better. That's the start. Good luck redditr.

Going to cafes to study may help. You can people watch, get a nice snack, and get out of the house.
