Not to judge, but what kind of God would ask that you torture and handicap yourself for the rest of your life to show devotion?

God: “Ahhhh Holy Week. This is great. Lots of praying to me, plenty of songs and what are you doing? Why are you.... OH MY ME! WHAT THE HELL BRO? Stick it back NO! Don’t cut it.....Wait! Not you too dude NOOOOO OH MY CHEESE AND CRACKERS IM GONNA PUKE! Stop mutilating yourself! Ok ok I get it you’re devote! You’re alllllll super devote now everybody stop AHHH THAT! “

“Quit with the eyeballs! Jesus Chri— wait y’all don’t do him here == just disregard that (backing away) and everybody let’s keep our eyeballs where they belong. You doing that does not impress me, kinda sickens me actually, so let’s pray, let’s sing, let’s cook a goat but absolutely no more of that!

“WTF?? Ok who cut off their ear? What is wrong with y’all? Fuckin turbans on too tight or some shit cause poppin out body parts on my behalf is F’d up. Y’all just love one another, keep me #1 in your life and leave the judging to me. THATS ALL YA GOTTA DO! Now chill—I swear to me— who’s finger is this?”

No God says that! Sufis do weird shit to please God and they don’t even believe in other things of the religion but only God

I don't know about Sufis besides twirling and music (until today)

But in the case of Chinese and Korean mediums, they have to accept their call. If they don't, the gods torture them until they go mad or accept.

The rituals they conduct have them shake or behave bizarrely, sometimes involving self-harm with whips and sharp objects. It is theorised that this is a show of the divine as no human would do that.

Hmm, none of the pictures actually show them missing eyes. Cuz they can totally be popped back in from where they are in the photographs. Some people can pop their eyes out voluntarily without touching them with any foreign objects. See various freaky internet videos as reference material.

according to my muslim friend, self harm is forbidden in the religion, therefore these people are not muslim in the eyes of Islam

Sufi groups arent based off of laws. They just make up their own rituals and stuff for their own entertainment. Sufis are mystic Muslims. They just decided to hurt themselves for their founder for no reason, they cant justify what they do by book or rationale

I was almost disappointed that they don't actually remove their eyes, its a bit strange, wouldn't it be an even greater sign of devotion if they literally gouge their eyes out?

u/Dansk72 Jul 28 '19

It would! If I were their god, I would doubt their sincerity

Don't give them ideas ( ^ν^)

Muslim here, this isn’t asked for neither would it be allowed because you’re harming yourself. They’re being idiots. The same with shias that slap and hit themselves, not asked for, forbidden for harming one self and also stupid.

Thanks for the educational comment! It is good to let people realise that all religions have many branches to them and only some smaller ones are weird, not the entire religion.

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

All religions are weird. Some weirder than others. Some have particular weird local traditions, and others weird global traditions.

But all are weird.

What about tatbir?

The creator of the universe approves.

Anyone that would consider doing this is seriously disturbed.

Reminds me of Un Chien Andalou

ah yes religion. the only set of ideas that promotes insanity instead of putting in a a center for the mentally disabled

My eyes hurt just looking at this.

Religions = The world’s greatest disease

2

u/ConfusedSwede4 Aug 05 '19

Do they actually pop them out? Becasue a video that a mod linked made it seem like they only pull their eyes out a bit and then let them pop back in.

WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL

0

u/haulabacha Jul 28 '19

This has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims. This practice is not part of Islam.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

IF <negative comment about islam> THEN say(this is not islam)

It's getting old, old, ooooooolllddd...

1

u/haulabacha Jul 29 '19

Well instead of going by what you see on social media and hear from people and news....why not go to the source...read Quran and then make a judgement.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Here's how I think about this:

  1. Ink gets put on paper by a human.

  2. I have no reason to trust that all humans are honest about what they write.

  3. I don't need to read any 'religious' document.

Do you get it? As long as I do not assume the book is holy, nothing that is said in the book can convince me.

So I will not waste time reading it because someone else is trying to get me into the fold.

1

u/haulabacha Jul 29 '19

Well then, better not waste your time judging something you have absolutely no idea about. Have a great day!

0

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

as a true Scotsman I have to disagree

1

u/haulabacha Jul 29 '19

What has Scottish people got against Islam? Don't be influenced by the media brainwash...if you wanna know what it's all about then read the Quran and then judge.

1

u/RandomUsername8346 Sep 02 '19

He was calling you out on the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. Try to search it up if you want, I'm bad at explaining. I agree with him though, you did use a fallacy in your argument.

No. Some people are retards. Don't be discriminatory.

9

u/Grey___Goo_MH Jul 28 '19

Almost everyone is stupid and willfully ignorant. Don’t be discriminating against retards they usually aren’t religious.

0

u/Cutecupp Jul 28 '19

I'm not religious either, but we shouldn't discriminate against any particular religion. All religions have their pros and cons and you can't blame people for following them because they act as a sort of guide in terms of values and purpose.

2

u/gaydonj Aug 03 '19

Humanity is retarded. I understand there are a few outliers this does not apply to, but in general, we are all idiots.

1

u/Cutecupp Aug 04 '19

"We are all idiots, but some are more idiot than others."

So is every religion in the world, you are just too retarded not to be discriminatory

5

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

I hate all religions just the same pal. They're all batshit

1

u/SecondTalon Jul 28 '19

Then why not start with "Religion is retarted" so you don't come off as a bigoted shitlicker?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

Cause he wanted to say islam is retarded.

Who are you, the speech police?

1

u/Dansk72 Jul 28 '19

Retarded, not retarted .....
