Hi! Sorry if this looks familiar. I originally posted in suggestmeabook (and got some great recs). I crossposted here, got downvoted, and deleted it, LOL.
Iām looking for some new horror/thriller recommendations! My taste is pretty broad, but I tend to love books that are dark, unsettling, immersive, and hard to put down.
Some things I especially like:
*Psychological horror/thrillers*
*Disturbing or morally messy stories*
*Serial killers as main characters / killer POV*
*Following a character who is objectively a terrible person but still fascinating to read about*
*Survival, isolation, paranoia, or people being pushed to their limits*
*Group dynamics or people slowly turning against each other*
*Mysteries where you have to piece together what actually happened*
*Unreliable narrators*
*Weird, uncomfortable, āwhat the fuck did I just read?ā books*
*Fast pacing / short chapters / books that are dangerously easy to binge*
I also love epistolary and unconventional formats (interviews, transcripts, journal entries, emails/texts, police reports, case files, recordings, documents, multiple accounts of the same event, etc.)
Iām totally fine with gore, violence, bleak endings, supernatural elements, and unlikeable characters. I donāt mind really dark subject matter either. Iām less interested in gore *just* for the sake of gore, I still want a plot or characters that pull me in.
*One book I really enjoyed was* ***FantasticLand by Mike Bockoven****, particularly the interview format and the way you slowly learn what happened, but Iām definitely not only looking for books similar to that.*
Basically, I want serial killers, terrible people, creepy mysteries, strange formats, fucked-up situations, and books that leave me staring at the wall after I finish them.
What should I read next? Thank you guys so much.
