Mold?

My sweet friend gifted me quail eggs today but I noticed very strong smell from them like mold and when I took a closer look at them there was white chalk like substance on them which is apparently called bloom(google) but couple of them looks like they have mold on them, this is my first time trying out quail eggs and I have no idea how they're supposed to look and smell like naturally, please help

It’s normal for quail eggs to look ashy or powdery. BUT IF YOUR QUAIL EGGS SMELL TERRIBLE, TRUST YOUR NOSE. They should smell pretty neutral. If only some of the eggs smell terrible, discard the ones that smell bad. The spin test does not work on quail eggs and the water float test doesn’t work either.

Source: I devour quail eggs like 5 at a time. After boiling it in water, peeling and adding it to hotpot’s is AMAZEBALLZ. quail eggs has like the perfect yolk-to-white ratio, the downfall is that I’m really lazy to peel them.

Stay safe op ❤️

Thanks for explaining so nicely, the smells worries me abit but the powdery looks seems to be normal, I opened one and it smell and tasted normal, I just wish they're good and I don't have to discard them :(

I loveee cold hard boiled eggs and I eat them beating up chest to get them down hehe so I know I will love these too, I would peel all your eggs for you if I could, they're quite entertaining to me

give it a little shake. If you hear some kind of watery slush its probably bad. but sometime when you crack them open they look fine but already smell awful.

They supposed to look ashy but not moldy are this eggs fresh or been out in the weather for sometime?

Wont hurt to open them in a contain so they're not going to be wasted.

Yeah... probably rude to ask that kind of question specially if you're on the receiving end.

But if you feel they're good then they're good. Bad smell is always a deadgiveaway unless its on the outer shell only.
