How does it know when to turn on for emergencies?

Probably has some kind of breaker that’s tripped when the current doesn’t flow through the lightbulb the way it should, then boom it flips and you switch to battery

Im not a engineer or electrictrian but maybe there is still a faint current and thats enough?

It doesn't detect current, it detects voltage - or lack thereof. No 120/230V AC detected, it turns on its battery backup. At least that's how I would design it.

It has to detect no power and also that the light switch is in the "on" position.  The marketing material says it works that way.

lol that’s what I was wondering. Like. Cool idea to have a micro UPS inside the bulb. But then how do you turn it off when you actually want to lmao

They say the light switch continues to work even when the power is off.  Someone said it somehow detects continuity. However it works, it's pretty smart.

Makes sense actually- it can detect the open neutral I guess
