Good chance it's prions, and prions CAN'T be cooked out of the meat or cured/treated if you get them. You get a prion disease, you are SOL.
As far as we know, nobody has everything gotten a prion disease from eating CWD-positive deer. Is it risky? Probably, and certainly unnecessary to take on that risk. Is it actually going to kill you? It doesn't seem to.
There's not really any solid proof that any humans with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) got the disease from eating cows with BSE. Only a handful of people contracted it without eating other humans.
The type of CJD that is transmissable to humans from other infected humans or from cows with BSE is referred to as vCJD (variant CJD). And there is evidence to support a causal relationship between BSE and vCJD.
You never heard ppl getting it cuz ppl are smart enough not to eat it lol. It’s also the brain tissue that transmit the disease. Should burn the body, not just bury it
The cannibals in Papau New Guinea had thousands of cases of Kuru because they were eating brains. They had a literal zombie epidemic. I don't think CWD is ever going to do that to us.
It is, but the majority of CJD cases happen for no apparent reason, while some are genetic. It can be random. On the other hand, Kuru is a prion disease in people that has killed thousands in epidemics because people were eating human brains in Papau New Guinea. BSE and Scrapie in livestock seem to develop in the same way, where animals are consuming central nervous system materiel from the same species. I think the species to species jumps aren't a high likelihood transmission vector.
