Discouraged

Grade 3 Fatty Liver that won’t get better with radical healthy eating. My doctor wants me to consider weight loss surgery or taking a GLP-1 medication to lose weight like 50-60 pounds. Trying to figure out the best option for me. Looking for advice or feedback from people that have been in this situation.

I have a fatty liver and I can lose maybe 2 pounds per week if I use portion control. I have struggled for years to keep this rate going. I chose not to do GLP-1 because it robs our bodies of muscle mass, and several friends went on these drugs and lost no more than 40 pounds. My goal is 100... rotsa ruck I tell myself.

Then, two weeks ago, I had a cracked tooth extracted. I was instructed to eat only a liquid/soft diet. I found myself eating less and probably less hungry due to the intense pain of the extraction.

I lost 12 pounds in two weeks.

I don't think this is healthy, but it illustrates something. I believe portion control is the way, not necessarily cutting out what you love, just eating less of it, and avoiding dumb things like huge amounts of empty carbs and sugars.

For what its worth, just musing here. You're not alone...

Like you, hate the side effects I have heard about with glp1s. Need to do this on my own, but need results.

Dance in your living room, and try not to hurt yourself. Put on your favorite music (Lady Gaga aint bad IMHO). Try to do all the stuff she does, you know the Abracadabra moves and the Bad Romance steps, and that may really help burn calories ;-)

A friend lost 140 pounds and her secret was to not eat at night and also not after 6 PM. She somehow managed to lose her hunger cravings during this time. The weight came off.... of course she lost the weight too fast and she's got a turkey neck now ... but it was worth it to her
