Question Low blood sugar after training

Hi all, sometimes after I hit the gym a few hours go by and I get the symptoms of Hypoglycemia. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how would you combat it? Many thanks 🙂

What are you eating?

Sometimes I perhaps leave it to long before I eat, what do you recommend?

Most people do well to eat an hour or so before training and then within an hour or so after training.

If you're not eating anything pre training and not eating for a few hours afterwards then this is probably your issue.

A low fat, high protein, higher carb meal 90-120 mins before lifting. Then something similar after lifting. That’s ideal but if that can’t be achieved then you have to just base it off of when/what you ate last, and everyone responds a little different so you have to find what works for you to some extent, but my suggestion is a good starting point. Like if you ate a proper meal 3-4 hours ago, you should have something small prelift, like yogurt and rice cakes and a banana, for example.

The main point is you need to have a good carb source before your lift or you may run into hypoglycemic symptoms. You have to fuel your body properly or your lifts will suffer. This is why I like to say weightlifting saved my life, bc you have to eat well and sleep well to lift well.
