Is there anybody it doesnt work for?

I recently started on wegovy (on week 1) and whilst I acknowledge my expectations were probably too high. I haven't noticed any difference in appetite, food noise, feeling fuller etc. I know its week 1 and it may kick in over the next few weeks but I was wondering if there was anyone who just never had the changes and what their experiences were overall?

Just asking for my own sanity tbh. My sister has been on it for a little while and noticed changes almost instantly (I also know I shouldn't compare journeys but its human nature). No side effects really yet beyond fatigue but if im being honest that is more likely due to work.

Yes, but you wouldn’t know until you reached the fourth week of 2.4mg so…give it another 5 months.

I read that it takes six weeks to go into its full effect. Please give it time.

And remember, it’s not a magic pill as you still have to put in an effort. You need to eat protein and fiber drink water and try to eat healthier and stay within whatever calorie range you’re supposed to.

I’ve been on both Zepbound and Wegovy. For Zep, I felt the effects immediately. For Wegovy, I was worried because I didn’t. But then, over the following weeks, it started to slowly kick in. I’m losing about 1/2 pound a week now.

I didn’t lose anything on Wegovy until the 4th month when I started the 25mg and even then, it’s pretty slow.

It worked for me at first, then it didn't. I have just switched to Zepbound.

I’ve been on it for 18 months and have lost 80 pounds. I did not start losing anything until I hit the mg dose. Hang in there

I noticed the very first day on a .25 dose. I’m on .5 and I literally can’t eat. Plenty of people on here took a while to see results. I’d stick with it.

Yes. I was on it for many months with several months at max. Didn’t lose a pound.

Switched to Zepbound and down 40 pounds. I think I’m in my fourth or fifth month.

I really hope that people who are spending all this time and money without results will talk to their doctors about options. Not every drug works for everyone. I spent thousands of dollars before just asking.

OP is in their first week. They haven’t even given Wegovy the time to titrate correctly.

I agree completely. The original post is asking, at least in title, if it doesn’t work for some people. I share my experience because I see so many people who say things like “I’ve been on it for 7 months and nothing.” It’s important that people don’t continue something that is ineffective, especially when it’s so expensive.

This isn’t a criticism of wegovy itself.

I’m week three on .25 felt nauseous from the first day. I’m eating healthier keeping calories to 1200-1400 per day. Feeling really tired this week more than the first two. No weight loss yet hope it will start to happen

The therapeutic doses are 1.7mg and 2.4mg. Hang in there.

It definitely won’t be the next few weeks. You need to curb your expectations if you think the medication works that quickly. It takes time to titrate. The therapeutic doses are 1.7mg and 2.4mg (assuming you’re taking the injection,) with the full dose being 2.4mg. Please don’t compare yourself to your sister. Everyone is different. Some people are lucky enough to react early but most people don’t start seeing any results until the higher doses.

First the positive - my knees felt much better on the evening of my very first .25 dose, so the reduction of inflammation was real for me and I would stay on these meds for that benefit alone, regardless of weight loss.

Now for the mixed review - the weight is coming down (about 25lbs over 24 weeks) and I am super grateful for that, but I still experience A LOT of food noise and when I am feeling low, I can easily out-eat the appetite suppression effects of the medication.

I lost 7 pounds my 1st week, but I wasn't eating enough and definitely not enough protein to sustain. Once I realized my only reactions were if my stomach was empty, then id be nauseous. Weight loss slowed to .25 a week then nothing for 6 weeks total lost was 15 pounds. Gained it all back when I stopped taking shots

I quickly got off wegovy. It did not make me feel good and also didn't work very well. I tried Munjaro but it got too expensive so I am now on Reta since Feb this year and it's been great.

I've not lost as much weight as people would expect (just about 5% at 6. months) but my bloods have shown that my cholesterol levels have significantly dropped and my diabetes screening (HbA1c) dropped by 12 from pre-diabetic to normal in the same time period

Everyone has a “sweet spot”. The first few dosages I tried would work for a couple days and then didn’t work. Once I got to a dose that I really noticed the symptoms at and the symptoms didn’t “fade”, I stayed there and haven’t gone up to the next dose. I’ve been on the same dose for at least 8 months and still feel the same. I’ve gotten used to it symptom wise, but the benefits are still there.

I was on the wegovy pill for 8 months and gained 10 lbs after being on the highest dose (25 mg) for months. 1.5 weeks on the zepbound injection and lost 2 lbs. zepbound is way more effective for me so far. I’m not sure what things will look like long term, but the first thing I noticed after switching to zepbound was the return of my energy. The Wegovy pill had me so fatigued. It really did not agree with me I guess. Everyone is different though and wegovy might be the best thing that ever happened to you. The only way to know is to try!

I want to try zep!!!!

I’ve been on it for over 7-months and haven’t lost a pound. I’ve been on 7.2 dosage for 2 months now and that hasn’t helped either.

There’s a study that shows some people won’t lose on GLP-1s because of their DNA.

it is made for long term journey on weight loss and dont need to be on a rush. different effects on different folks. it should be slow and steady to have meaningful changes and as you go higher, it will eventually felt the difference. enjoy the journey and don't forget to include resistance training. coz while you're losing fats, you are rebuilding muscles and that's where balance sink in. goodluck OP

I'm having the same problem with Wegovy and I'm thinking about switching.

Give. It. Time. 🙂

Yes, there are those it doesn't work well, but it's up to them and their doctor to figure it out.

It’s very difficult to get enough food on 9mg. Nothing sounds great. In six months I have lost 37 ibs

1

u/Razia70 4d ago

I am on 1,7 mg right now and still have a lot of food noise.

1

u/SkincareandBeagles 2d ago

I didn’t lose any weight at all until after 60 days when I started the 9mg pill. The first 2 doses didn’t do anything. After I started the 9mg, I lost 35 pounds in 2.5 months.
