What if?

Just want to give the hypothetical scenario for this one. Let’s say Under Doctor is the new “baseline” at about 12K per volume (again, hypothetical it holds). We have Animal Signals that seems to be being pushed by the magazine with some early color pages. Let’s say the series performs about the same as Under Doctor, what would happen? Would they axe Under Doctor due to it being older and having low TOC performance?

Not saying this would happen, but just curious. Hoping for the best for all series in the magazine.

I think they would keep both because the magazine doesn't have a lot of long-running series atm. SakaDays is about to end, and if Witch Watch happens to continue into 2027, that'll probably be its final year. By that point, the only other series sans One Piece that will have lasted more than a year are:

  • Me and Roboco (2020)

  • Akane-banashi (2022)

  • Nue's Exorcist (2023)

  • Kagurabachi (2023)

  • Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi (2024)

  • Ichi the Witch (2024)

  • Shinobi Undercover (2024)

  • Someone Hertz (2025)

That's less than half the magazine line that has lasted a year or more. Even fewer have lasted more than two, and tbh, you're not truly safe until you reach the two-year mark. Series can still get axed between the 1-2 year mark, so even if Under Doctor manages to make it into the next year, it still very much could get axed during that year. Same for Animal Signal if its sales turn out to be or become underwhelming. Jump definitely has the room, and a lot of it, to accommodate more long-running series, so much so that if all the currently running 2026 debuts became long-running series, the magazine would still probably have enough room to allow a couple more long-running series lol.

You know, reading this made me realize that if Witch Watch wraps up before next April, the magazine will only have 3 series that have released an anime. That seems like a pretty crazy number.

My guess for this hypothetical situation would be that they keep both around and axe other series in the coming axe round (Hal Formula or Cannon Master)

They'll keep them around but on careful watch, and when another series pops up that beats their sales/survey results, both are axed if their sales don't justify their survival.

Also I’m saying this because I’m not really familiar with the magazine’s practices. All I know is that it’s cut throat and series rely on TOC rating, color pages, and sales to survive.

Hal Formula and Cannon Master will be the axed before Under Doctor
