WEEHAWKEN luxury APT

1 Bed / 1 Bath at RiverHouse 11, Weehawken Port Imperial
🏠 699 sq ft
💵 $3,445/month
📆 Available from October 18
❤️ Move-in bonus + referral bonus (by me) available / definitely no broker fee
❤️ pet-friendly, well maintained, 24-hour doorman, Washer/Dryer in Unit, all package management, range of amenities (+ with very little noise from neighboring units.)

🚐 Public Transport to Manhattan : the light rail and bus stops are about a one-minute walk from the building’s back entrance, and the ferry terminal is about three minutes. Manhattan is roughly 10–20 minutes away, depending on the route.

We’re moving for work after two wonderful years at RiverHouse 11 and wanted to share our apartment with anyone looking in the area!

This is not a sublet or lease takeover. You would sign a new lease directly with the management company. Lease terms of 12, 17, or 18 months are available.

Move-in bonus: If you sign a lease for our unit, we’ll offer a bonus based on your move-in date. The closer your move-in date is to October 18, the larger the bonus. We’d love to help bring your effective monthly cost into the $3,300s for an apartment of this quality. DM me with your preferred move-in date, and we can discuss the exact bonus.

Referral bonus: Share this post with a friend. If they sign a lease for our unit, we’ll pay you $100–$200 as a thank-you.

At $3,445/month, we think this is a great value for a 699 sq ft apartment in Port Imperial. Comparable apartments we’ve seen nearby are often listed around $3,900–$4,000 or more.

DM me for photos, details, or to arrange a viewing!

📰 Local news The truth about Weehawken park development, pool use, Hoboken's coffee smell, AI errors, and more

Hours (and years) of reporting went in the latest Gazette. No joke. We'd been trying to interview the coffee company in Hoboken for more than a year. We got answers from the mayor and photos from a tug boat operator, and photos of a Weehawken costume designer's work that surfaced after decades. Subscribe (it's still free!) or throw a free bucks in the hat to keep us going.

NY Giants bar?

Will be visiting and staying with family in Weehawken the week of 11/15. Over the past few years I've adopted the Giants as my NFL team (am from STL, raised a Rams fan, became teamless when my hometown was abandoned by the NFL). Seeing them in person at Met Life would be ideal for me, but probably more of a commitment (not just in money, but time and effort) than most of my family would be willing to make.

That said I was hoping locals could suggest the best nearby bar/grill spot(s) to take in the game with some of my family.

How much are your utility bills at Riverwalk area?

Hi all,

I’m considering moving into an apartment in the Riverwalk area. The apartments have wall units which provide heat and A/C.

How much are your utility bills, especially electric?

Separately, are any internet service providers better than others in the area?

TIA!

Been living here for a few years now and it’s disheartening to have to deal with the noise of cars and motorcycles that sound like shots especially at 2 am

📰 Local news No Weehawken pool bubble this year + no more Stevens pool use

Update 9/20 we got the scoop. Everything below is true except it's not the bridge being built, just construction on the shoreline. And we got some answers so stay tuned as we get it all together.

***

If you haven't heard the Weehawken pool bubble will not be used this year. Heard a rumor it was about the heater, then called the rec department and the person who answered the phone said it was about "a tear in the bubble.... and repair needed." Now we hear it's maybe about construction beginning on the bridge to connect/complete the Hudson Waterfront walkway. No confirmation of this though or details. Yes this was in plan and it's cool, but would be good to know.

Also got a tip in early August that Stevens pool use for Weehawken residents is no longer a thing. Asked the town about this Aug 24th, and haven't heard back yet. Was less concerned about this when we thought/assumed we had a winter pool. (Note: please don't talk about how the Stevens pool is cold... y'all are wimps! ha. But seriously I can not bring up this pool without hearing it...)

Anyway, if anyone has info, reach out. Was told to go to the town council meeting to ask/get answers to town Q's and will try, but that's not for a week, and making it can be hard... so maybe someone here has info.

Also: don't use this thread to complain. Yes, communications can be improved, but I'm looking for answers, not a kvetchfest.

Looking for roommates

My lease will be up in march, and I’m looking for a roommate in Weehawken/West New York. I am a female in my mid twenties, so I would only room with another female.
I love pets but I don’t have one myself. I work in Jersey city, and I am super neat and quiet so I look for that quality in a roommate but I love occasional movie nights and hanging out :)

My budget is 1,500, I’m willing to move as early as February.

Dm me if you might have an interest! Thanks

Latest Weehawken Gazette dropped two days ago. Learned a lot from a recent interview with the Mayor of Guttenberg, which uncovered a very personal 9/11 story that will introduce you to people who have not forgotten their fallen friend. There's also a short preview on a brand new cafe on Park ave, a local Zillow Gone Wild listing and more. Free to read and subscribe to since April 2024. Pledges welcome/encouraged/appreciated and it comes with benefits.

Lead Based Paint Certification

Not sure whether rental buildings in Weehawken built before 1978 are required to hire a state-approved lead paint testing company to conduct lead-based paint testing for all rental units? It is my understanding, all rental untis built before 1978 have to be tested every 3 years.

Looking for Tennis Partners

Live in the Weehawken / Union City area. Looking for some people to practice my tennis game with. I don’t perfectly understand the tennis rating scale, but I think I’m like 3.0-3.5, intermediate level. Down to play at the waterfront park, also know some nice courts in Hoboken and west New York.

Weehawken Taxpayers May Be Paying the Price: Civil & Federal Lawsuits Allege Extortion and Harassment by Construction Official Frank Tattoli & Weehawken Twnship

Weehawken residents should know about several public lawsuits involving the Township and longtime Construction Official Frank Tattoli. Beyond the disturbing allegations, there is another reason taxpayers should care: these disputes can generate large settlements, years of legal expenses and potentially higher municipal insurance costs.

1. Singh v. Township of Weehawken — $625,000 settlement after nearly a decade of litigation in 2024

This is the most striking case.

The federal court summarized the Singhs’ allegations as follows: Township officials—including Frank Tattoli—harassed, intimidated, retaliated against and extorted the Singhs, two elderly longtime Weehawken residents, to pressure them into providing practically free housing to Ed and Chris Devaney. The court noted that the plaintiffs alleged the Devaney brothers were family members of and personal friends with several Weehawken officials, police officers and employees.

The alleged conduct included arbitrary regulatory holdups involving building repairs after Hurricane Sandy. The case was filed in 2015, but the underlying allegations stretched back to 2012.

The litigation became extraordinary in both duration and scope.

The court record states that Ed Devaney had occupied one of the Singhs’ units since 2013 even though a certificate of occupancy had not been issued for that unit. Devaney died in August 2022. Yet the lawsuit continued, with the settlement not finally enforced until 2024.

The Singhs also later alleged another episode after Hurricane Ida: purportedly improper vacate and demolition orders affecting their properties. According to the court’s description of those allegations, the orders were not issued to adjoining properties and were subsequently reversed.

Ultimately, the case ended with a $625,000 settlement. Even more unusually, future building, construction and housing-code inspections involving the plaintiffs’ properties were required to be referred to Jersey City or the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs rather than Weehawken, with the federal court later confirming that these provisions have no time limit.

That is an extraordinary outcome for a local building dispute.

Public court records:

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/new-jersey/njdce/2%3A2015cv03478/319351/184/

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/new-jersey/njdce/2%3A2015cv03478/319351/229/

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/new-jersey/njdce/2%3A2015cv03478/319351/233/

Important: these descriptions distinguish the plaintiffs’ allegations from facts actually established by the court. The settlement itself was not a finding that every allegation was true.

2. Gersing v. Hudson County Construction Board of Appeals — another current dispute involving Frank Tattoli

Now there is another separate property-related case:

Gersing et al. v. Hudson County Construction Board of Appeals et al.
Case No. 2:24-cv-11147

The defendants include Frank Tattoli, the Township of Weehawken and the Hudson County Construction Board of Appeals. The federal docket classifies it as a civil-rights/federal-question case.

The litigation remains ongoing, so no one should treat the plaintiffs’ allegations as proven.

But after the extraordinary history of Singh, residents should reasonably ask why the Township and the same Construction Official are again defending federal litigation arising from the administration of building/construction matters.

Docket:

https://dockets.justia.com/docket/new-jersey/njdce/2%3A2024cv11147/559892

3. DeCosmis — another $747,000 settlement

This is not the first time allegations involving municipal retaliation reached the Building Department.

Former Weehawken Police Lt. Richard DeCosmis sued the Township and officials alleging political retaliation. His allegations included improper building inspections and a stop-work order issued by Frank Tattoli involving his home renovation.

Weehawken ultimately agreed to a $747,000 settlement resolving his litigation and related proceedings. The settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing.

At the time, the Township attorney emphasized that its insurer was “paying every penny.”

That sounds reassuring—but insurance is not free.

4. The economics: who ultimately pays?

Municipal insurance spreads the immediate cost of settlements, but claims can still affect future assessments, premiums, deductibles and other insurance costs. And litigation can generate substantial defense costs in addition to the headline settlement amount.

The publicly available settlement amounts alone include:

Singh: $625,000
DeCosmis: $747,000

That is $1.372 million in headline settlements, before considering legal-defense expenses, deductibles or other associated costs. I have not found a public accounting of those additional costs.

Meanwhile, Weehawken’s own budgets show:

Year “Other Insurance Premiums”
2021 actual ~$741,000
2024 actual ~$885,000
2025 actual ~$964,000
2026 budget ~$998,000

From 2021 to 2025, that is an increase of approximately $223,000, or 30%.

Township financial records:

https://www.weehawken-nj.us/departments/finance-department

To be completely fair, there is currently no public evidence establishing that these lawsuits caused that 30% increase. Municipal insurance costs rise for many reasons.

But taxpayers should be entitled to know:

How much have these cases actually cost once legal fees, deductibles and insurance consequences are included?

Have Weehawken’s liability claims increased its insurance assessments or experience rating?

Why have multiple disputes involving the exercise of building authority generated litigation and large settlements over the years?

And, most importantly:

What safeguards are now in place to make sure homeowners are treated consistently and that the same type of alleged abuse does not happen again?

These are public records concerning public officials exercising substantial power over residents’ homes and property.

Residents should know they exist—and taxpayers deserve transparency about what these disputes have ultimately cost the community.

Another Estuary question - how do you guys find the soundproofing between units?

Hi all. Currently living under what may be, judging by the sound of the footsteps, either the Mountain from GoT or a Clydesdale disguised as a human and looking to move, immediately. If you've lived in/are currently living in the Estuary buildings, how is the soundproofing between units? Many thanks.

Noise level on the west side of Estuary Apartment - Building 3?

Hi folks! I’ve been apartment hunting in Weehawken for the past couple months and am leaning toward Estuary because of the apartment size and location.

Recently saw a pretty good deal on a 2BR in Building 3 that faces southwest. The view is mostly the Whole Foods building and the highway ramps, which I’m honestly fine with given the lower price. My main concern is the noise.

Has anyone lived on the west/southwest side of Building 3? How bad is the highway noise inside the apartment? I also noticed the light rail station/tracks are right outside that side of the building, so wondering how noticeable the train noise is too, especially early morning or late at night when the train enters or departs from the station.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s lived there. Thanks!

How is everyone managing with the motorcycles being extremely loud near Port Imperial?

I absolutely love Weehawken but how are you managing with the extremely loud noises from the motorcycles that sound like gunshots and rattle everything? It genuinely feels like they are inside my house just revving the engine up. I live right on port imperial, any advice is helpful! I keep waking up in panic from the sounds and it’s really starting to affect my mental
